Configuration & Setup
Control how the Chain Transfer Pro behaves across your company by navigating to Inventory > Configuration > Settings.
Approve Chain by Manager
What it does: Adds an approval workflow to the chain transfer process.
Impact: When enabled, any new chain transfer is created in a 'Draft' state. Warehouse operators cannot validate the transfer from the Barcode app until an Inventory Manager explicitly clicks "Approve Chain" from the backend. This prevents unauthorized inventory routing.
Default Transit Location
What it does: Sets a company-wide default intermediate location.
Impact: Whenever a worker clicks the Chain Transfer button in the Barcode app, the 'Transit Location' field is instantly pre-filled with this default value. This eliminates the need to manually search for the transit location every time, saving valuable seconds per scan.
How to Use (Step-by-Step Guide)
Start a Picking
Open the Odoo Barcode App and select an active picking (e.g., a Receipt or Internal Transfer). Once inside, you'll see a new Chain icon in the top header.
Configure the Chain
Click the icon to open the Chain Transfer dialog. You'll need to define:
- Transit Location: Where the goods are temporarily held (e.g., Quality Check zone). This might be pre-filled from your settings.
- Destination Picking Type: The operation type for the second step (e.g., Internal Transfers).
- End Location: The final physical bin. Tip: Toggle Use Putaway Rules to let Odoo automatically decide the final bin!
Scan and Validate (Step 1)
Scan your products normally. Notice that all product destination lines are automatically updated to match your chosen Transit Location to prevent physical routing errors. Click Validate when done.
Magic! Step 2 is Ready
The moment you validate Step 1, the system silently creates, reserves, and confirms Step 2 in the background. The goods are instantly moved from the Transit Location to the End Location (or their assigned Putaway bins). No manual intervention needed!
