Overview

Lock Records

This module allows you to lock records in Odoo, stopping users from making changes once certain conditions are met. Administrators can set locking rules based on workflow stages, user roles, or custom triggers. It helps protect data by preventing unauthorized changes, making it useful for businesses that need controlled record management.

Configuration

Lock Rule Configuration

Go to Settings -> User & Companies -> Companies and select the company for which you want to lock the records.

Select the Lock Record Configuration tab.

Click on "Add a line" to configure locking conditions with the following fields:

1. Select Model (model_id) – Choose the Odoo model where locking should apply (e.g., sale.order, account.move).
2. State Field (state_field_id) – Choose a selection field that determines the record's workflow stage.
3. Selection Value (selection_value) – Select the specific state at which records should be locked.
4. Set Lock Date (lock_date) – The date beyond which records will be locked.
5. Define Warning Message (warning_message) – Custom message displayed when users attempt to modify locked records.

Whenever a user opens, edits, or tries to delete a record in the configured model, Odoo performs a lock check.

Lock Record Enforcement (Automated Process)

The system evaluates: If the record’s Compare With field date is before the lock_date, the record is locked.
If State Field is defined, the record is locked only if it matches the specified Selection Value.
If both date-based and state-based conditions are met, the record becomes read-only.

Lock Enforcement in UI (User Interface)

User tries to edit a locked record:Locked records cannot be edited or deleted.
A warning message is displayed when users attempt changes.

Overriding the Lock by an Authorized User

A user with the access right to Edit the Lock Record can modify a locked record as needed.
