WhatsApp Chat Button on Contacts

Start a WhatsApp conversation with any Contact in just one click, directly from Odoo.

How it works

  • Open any Contact form (Customer, Vendor, or Individual).
  • Click the new Chat button next to the Phone field.
  • A WhatsApp chat opens in a new tab using the contact's Mobile number (or Phone, if no mobile is set).

Why use it

  • No more manually copying numbers to start a chat.
  • Works with numbers that include spaces, dashes or parentheses — they are cleaned automatically.
  • The button hides itself automatically when a contact has no phone or mobile number.
  • Lightweight: no new models, no background jobs, no external dependencies.

Notes

Numbers should ideally include the country code (e.g. +1 555 123 4567) so WhatsApp can route the chat correctly.
