Moving stock between warehouses in native Odoo means enabling Storage Locations and Multi-Step Routes, understanding route/rule mechanics, and clicking through several disconnected pickings. Warehouse staff end up routing requests informally over chat or email, so a simple "we need stock at Branch" request can take hours to become an actual transfer document.
Inter-Warehouse Transfer gives you one screen to pick a source warehouse, a destination warehouse and products, with live stock availability shown as you build the line. Routine transfers auto-approve; only over-threshold or requested transfers need a manager's sign-off — and every transfer is tracked from request to done.

Remembered routing per warehouse pair
The routing method used for a warehouse pair is remembered and defaulted on the next transfer between the same two warehouses, with a per-transfer override.
Live source-warehouse availability
Every transfer line shows the quantity actually available at the source warehouse and flags a shortage before you commit, not after.
Tiered, exception-only approval
Routine, below-threshold transfers auto-approve; only requested transfers or transfers above a configurable value need a manager's sign-off, cutting the wait for everyday moves.
Role-based workflow & audit trail
Confirm, approve, process and validate are separate, group-gated actions, so every transfer keeps a full trail of who requested, approved and processed it.
Return and one-click repeat
Send stock back to the origin warehouse from a completed transfer, or re-run a prior transfer's route and lines in a single click for recurring replenishment.
Cross-warehouse status dashboard
A kanban dashboard grouped by state shows draft, to-approve, approved, in-progress and done transfers across every warehouse pair at a glance.

Frequently asked
Do I need to configure Multi-Step Routes or Storage Locations first?
No. The module creates real, reservable stock pickings directly between warehouses, with an optional transit location for two-step transfers. The built-in guided setup wizard detects your configuration and enables multi-step locations only where you choose to.
What decides whether a transfer needs manager approval?
Any transfer type "Request" always needs approval. A direct transfer only needs approval if its total value exceeds a configurable threshold set in Settings; everything else auto-approves on confirmation.
Can I stop a transfer from processing if stock is short?
Yes. Turn on "Block on Shortage" in Settings and any transfer with a line exceeding the source warehouse's available quantity is blocked from processing until the shortage is resolved.
Does it support returns and repeat transfers?
Yes. A completed transfer can be returned to its origin warehouse in one click, or repeated as a fresh draft with the same route and product lines — ideal for recurring replenishment moves.
