The full-lifecycle library platform for Odoo
Catalog books, register members, and automate checkout, returns, overdue fines and invoicing — with a bundled self-service portal so patrons never need to call the front desk.
Schools, universities and corporate libraries running Odoo are stuck choosing between spreadsheets, standalone legacy library software that does not talk to their ERP, or fragmented add-ons that only cover part of the workflow — cataloging OR fines OR a portal, rarely all three. The result is duplicated data entry, manual fine calculation, no visibility into overdue books, and no link to accounting.
One package covers the full lifecycle — catalog, members, circulation, fines and requests — with a self-service member portal bundled in rather than sold as a separate add-on. Overdue fines and acquisition costs post straight to your accounting, and unfulfilled requests trigger an automatic reorder instead of a manual follow-up.
Everything a library needs, in one app
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Full Book & Copy Catalog
Catalog books with authors and hierarchical categories, and track every physical copy individually with its own barcode and condition state — available, borrowed or in maintenance.
Configurable Member Policies
Member types (student, faculty, staff, public) each carry their own loan duration, borrowing limits, renewal allowance, fine rate and grace period — no hard-coded rules.
Complete Circulation Workflow
Checkout, return, renewal and lost-book handling with clear status tracking, plus a scheduled action that detects overdue loans and sends due-soon reminders automatically.
Automated Fines, Invoiced
Overdue fines are calculated automatically against each member type's policy and invoiced as real customer invoices through Odoo accounting — no manual fine tracking spreadsheet.
Accounting-Integrated Costs
Book acquisition costs are tracked against vendor bills, giving administrators real financial visibility into the library's spend without manual journal entries.
Requests & Reservation Queue
Members request specific titles; staff approve or reject from a kanban queue. When no copy is available, an automatic reorder activity is created and the member is notified on arrival.
Self-Service Member Portal
Members log in to see current loans, borrowing history and open requests, and can request a renewal online — bundled in this app, never a separate purchase.
Notification Emails
Automatic emails on issuance, due-date reminders and returns keep members informed and cut down overdue incidents without staff having to chase anyone manually.
Library Settings, Centralized
Fine rates, loan durations, grace periods and card/barcode number prefixes all live on one Settings screen — no code changes needed to adapt policy.
How it works
Catalog & configure
Add books, copies, authors and categories, then set loan durations, fine rates and grace periods per member type in Settings.
Register members
Onboard patrons linked to their contact record, assign a member type and issue a library card number.
Circulate
Check books out and in, renew on request, and let the system flag overdue loans and calculate fines automatically.
Request & fulfill
Members request titles from the portal; staff approve, trigger a reorder if needed, and the member is notified the moment it arrives.

Frequently asked
Does this include a member portal, or do I need to buy that separately?
The self-service portal is bundled into this single app at no extra cost. Members can view current loans, borrowing history and requests, and submit renewal requests online.
How are overdue fines calculated and billed?
A scheduled action detects overdue loans and calculates the fine against the member's type policy — loan duration, grace period and fine rate are all configurable. The fine is then invoiced as a real customer invoice through Odoo accounting.
Can members request a book that is not currently available?
Yes. Members submit a request from the portal, staff approve or reject it, and if no copy is available an automatic reorder activity is created and the member is notified as soon as the book arrives.
Can loan duration and borrowing limits differ between students, faculty and staff?
Yes. Member types let you define a distinct loan duration, borrowing limit, renewal allowance, fine rate and grace period for each patron group, so one system serves a mixed student, faculty and public population without workarounds.
