A smarter popup for every variant you sell.
Replace the POS's plain attribute picker with a rich Variant Selection Popup: type-tolerant search, live per-variant stock, pricelist-driven pricing and attribute filtering, all in the moment a cashier taps a product tile.
A shirt sold in 5 sizes and 6 colors becomes 30 separate tiles on the POS screen, or a bare list of specs and codes with no stock or price context. Cashiers scroll, hunt, and mis-select during checkout, and standard popups often drop the variant's internal reference, corrupting receipts and reports.
One tile per product template, with a variant-count badge flagging which items need a choice. Tap it and the Variant Selection Popup opens: search by name, code or attribute, filter by size or color, see live stock and pricelist price per row, and add the exact variant in one click, its internal reference intact.
Everything a cashier needs, in one popup
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Rich Variant Selection Popup
Replaces the core POS attribute picker with a dedicated popup listing the template's actual variants, with search, stock, price and attribute detail together in one view.
Type-tolerant search
Matches partial text, ignores accents, and tolerates a light typo, so a fast, imperfect keystroke still lands on the right variant name, code or attribute value.
Attribute filter chips
Narrow the list one attribute at a time, pick Size, then Color, turning a long scroll into two quick taps for high-variant products.
Live per-variant stock
Every row shows on-hand quantity for that specific variant, with out-of-stock items flagged in red rather than hidden, so cashiers avoid overselling without a separate lookup.
Pricelist-driven pricing
Each variant's price reflects the order's active pricelist and is shown right in the popup, so cashier and customer see the correct price before it is added.
Internal reference preserved
Selecting a variant resolves to its exact product record, so the internal reference carries onto the order line, avoiding a known defect in comparable popups that corrupts receipts and reporting.
Variant-count badge
Product tiles with more than one variant show a count badge and a distinct visual marker, so cashiers know before they tap which items open a popup.
Keyboard quick-select
The search box autofocuses on open; pressing Enter adds the single matching variant and Escape closes the popup, built for fast, keyboard-driven checkout lanes.
Configurable per POS
Enable or disable the popup, auto-close after selection, and toggle the stock and price columns independently, all from the standard POS Settings screen.
How it works
Tap a product tile
Cashier taps any product on the POS screen; single-variant items add straight to the order, unchanged.
Popup opens for multi-variant items
Templates with more than one variant open the Variant Selection Popup instead of the plain core picker.
Search, filter, and compare
Type to search, tap an attribute chip to narrow, and read stock and price for each row before choosing.
Select and it's added
Tap a variant to add it to the order with its reference intact; the popup closes automatically if configured to.
See it in action
The POS product screen, the popup in action, and the settings that control it.
One tile per product template. The Cerevantix Tee tile carries a "12" badge, flagging it as a multi-variant product before the cashier even taps it.
The full popup: search box, Size and Color filter chips, and a row per variant with its attribute label, internal reference, live stock badge and pricelist price.
Four toggles in POS Settings: enable the popup, auto-close after selection, and show or hide the stock and price columns, per point of sale.
Frequently asked
Does this replace Odoo's own variant selector?
Yes, for templates with two or more real variants and no on-the-fly attribute configuration. It takes over the exact seam Odoo uses to open its own picker, so the rest of the add-to-order flow, including internal reference resolution, is unchanged.
What happens to products without variants?
Nothing changes. Products with a single variant, or attribute types the popup does not handle, like custom or on-demand attributes, still add directly to the order or fall back to the core picker.
Can I turn off the stock or price columns?
Yes. POS Settings has independent toggles for showing stock, showing price, enabling the popup at all, and auto-closing it after a variant is chosen.
Which Odoo version does this app support?
This listing targets Odoo 19 Point of Sale. The same module is also available for Odoo 18 and Odoo 17.
