Frequently asked
Can a read-only user still see their data?
Yes. Reading is always allowed. Only create, edit, delete and duplicate are blocked, so a read-only user can browse and open records exactly as before — they simply cannot change anything.
Do I need developer mode to use it?
No. Everything is done from the Read-Only Users panel with simple toggles. You never have to open developer mode or edit groups, access rights or record rules by hand.
Can I restrict a user in only some apps?
Yes. Choose "Restrict All Apps" for a blanket lock, or uncheck it and select specific apps such as Sales or Inventory. The user stays fully editable everywhere else.
Will it conflict with my existing access rights?
No. Read-only enforcement sits on top of Odoo's own access rights and record rules and only narrows what a user can do. It never grants extra access, and the system administrator is never affected.
