Role-based Point of Sale access, without the guesswork
Assign ready-made permission roles — Cashier, Senior Cashier, Supervisor, Store Manager — from one visual matrix. Restrict discounts, price edits, refunds, line removal and session close per role, scope managers to a single location, and keep a full audit log of every change.
Native Odoo POS forces a near-binary choice: an unrestricted manager who sees every location and every cash drawer, or a basic user too limited to close a session. Cashiers can freely discount, edit prices, delete paid lines and issue refunds — a direct source of shrinkage the owner cannot see until reconciliation fails.
Ship the missing middle. Assign a complete permission template in one click, fine-tune per user, scope a manager role to one store, and restrict which orders each user can see. Every role edit and assignment is recorded in an audit log — and an unrestricted admin group means owners are never locked out.
Everything loss prevention needs
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Ready-Made Role Templates
Four presets ship on install — Cashier, Senior Cashier, Supervisor and Store Manager — each with a sensible permission set. Assign one in a click, then tweak per user. No competitor ships presets.
Visual Permission Matrix
See every role against every feature on one grid of color-coded toggles. Edit the whole access picture from a single screen instead of digging through nested per-user settings.
Feature-Level Control
Toggle discounts, unit-price edits, quantity edits, order-line removal, payments, refunds, customer selection and numpad access per role — targeting the exact theft and error vectors owners install these apps to stop.
Location-Scoped Manager Role
The most-requested missing role: cash-handling, session close and reporting authority limited to a single store, with no visibility into other locations. Exactly the gap native Odoo leaves open.
Assign Users to Points of Sale
Restrict a user to specific points of sale so a cashier only reaches their own terminals. A clear message blocks anyone trying to open a POS they are not assigned to.
Order Visibility by Location
Location-scoped users only see the orders and sessions of their assigned points of sale — staff at one store cannot browse another store's transactions.
Permission-Change Audit Log
Every role creation, permission change and user assignment is recorded with who changed what and when — the accountability loss-prevention and multi-manager operations expect.
Session & Cash Authority
Grant open, close, cash in/out and shift-report rights per role — so a senior cashier can close and reconcile a session while a junior cashier cannot, without handing over full manager access.
Per-Terminal Enforcement Toggle
Turn access enforcement on or off per point of sale from the POS configuration. Roll the rules out to one terminal first, then the whole fleet — and keep an always-open admin escape hatch.
How it works
Pick a Role
Start from a preset in the permission matrix, or build your own role with the exact toggles you need.
Assign Users
Open the user's POS Access tab, set the role, and optionally restrict them to specific points of sale.
Enforce per Terminal
Leave "Enforce Access Roles" on for each point of sale — the rules apply the moment a session opens.
Review the Log
Check the audit log any time to see who changed which permission or assignment, and when.
See it in action
Real screens from the module, captured on Odoo 17.
Every role against every feature on one grid — the four presets show escalating authority from Cashier to location-scoped Store Manager.
The Store Manager role — permissions grouped by Order Actions, Payments and Session, with Location Scoped enabled to limit it to assigned points of sale.
The POS Access tab on every user — set the role, enable Restrict to Locations, and choose the assigned points of sale.
The access audit log — every role creation, permission change and user assignment recorded with the action, affected user and who made the change.
The Enforce Access Roles toggle on the point of sale configuration — honour the per-user roles and location restrictions on this terminal.
Frequently asked
Do I have to configure every cashier from scratch?
No. Four role templates ship on install — Cashier, Senior Cashier, Supervisor and Store Manager. Assign one to a user in a single click, then adjust individual toggles only where needed.
Can a manager be limited to just one store?
Yes. Enable "Restrict to Locations" on the user and assign their points of sale. A location-scoped manager keeps full cash and session authority but only sees the orders and sessions of their own store.
Could I accidentally lock myself out of the POS?
No. Users in the POS Access Administrator group (and standard POS Managers) bypass every restriction. That escape hatch means an owner or admin always keeps full access to their own POS.
Is every permission change tracked?
Yes. The audit log records every role creation, permission change and user assignment — with the action, the affected user, the role and who made the change — so you always have a clear history.
