Social Pinterest Integration Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up Pinterest integration with your Odoo Enterprise instance using the d_ee_social_pinterest module.

1. Setup Pinterest Developer Account

Before integrating Pinterest with Odoo, you need to set up a Pinterest Developer account and create an app.

1.1. Access Pinterest Developers Portal

  • Visit the Pinterest Developers website: https://developers.pinterest.com/
  • Log in with your Pinterest business account.
  • Navigate to "Apps" via https://developers.pinterest.com/apps/ or click "My Apps" in the menu.

1.2. Create and Configure Your App

  • Click Create app (or "Connect app") to start.
  • Fill in the required information (App name, Description).
  • For App Purpose section, you can use following reason: "Integrating Pinterest with Odoo for social media marketing and analytics, to create and manage Pins and Board."
  • For Use Case choose: Pin creation & scheduling, Reporting, Pinner App
  • For Audience choose: Pinners
  • Once the app is submited, you will need to wait for confirmation email then you will see your App ID and App Secret. Keep these safe.

1.3. Configure Callback URL

  • In your Pinterest App settings, locate the Redirect URIs section.

  • Add your Odoo instance's callback URL in the following format:

    https://{your-odoo-instance}/social_pinterest/callback

    Replace `{your-odoo-instance}` with your actual Odoo domain (e.g., https://myodoo.com/social_pinterest/callback).

  • Important: Ensure your Odoo instance is accessible via HTTPS.

2. Application Mode: Sandbox vs. Production

By default, new Pinterest apps are in Trial Access mode.

2.1. Requesting Production Access

To switch from Sandbox to Production, you need to submit your app for review.

  • Go to your App settings on the Pinterest Developer Portal.
  • Look for the Upgrade button.
  • Video Demo Requirement: Pinterest requires a video demonstration of your app integration.
    • Record a video showing how your Odoo module authenticates a Pinterest user.
    • Demonstrate the main features (e.g., creating a Pin, viewing boards).
    • Upload this video in the review submission form.
  • Fill in the required details about your app's purpose and usage.
  • Submit the request and wait for approval from Pinterest.

3. Configure Odoo Module

3.1. Install Module

  • Go to Apps in your Odoo instance.
  • Search for "d_ee_social_pinterest".
  • Click Install.

3.2. Configure Pinterest Credentials

  • Go to Settings -> Social Media.
  • Scroll to the "Pinterest Integration" section.
  • Enter the credentials you obtained from the Pinterest Developer Portal:
    • App ID
    • App Secret
  • Pinterest Mode: Select "Sandbox" if you are testing, or "Production" if your app has been approved.
  • Click Save.

4. Using Social Pinterest in Odoo

4.1. Connecting Account

  • Go to Social Marketing -> Configuration -> Social Media.
  • Select Pinterest.
  • Click Link Account or Add stream from Feed menu.
  • You will be redirected to Pinterest to authorize the app.
  • Grant the necessary permissions (read/write boards, pins).

4.2. Managing Boards

  • Once connected, Odoo will sync your Pinterest Boards.
  • You can view your boards in the dashboard.
  • When creating a post, you can select an existing board or create a new one directly from Odoo.

4.3. Creating Pins

  • Go to Social Marketing -> Posts -> Create.
  • Select your Pinterest account.
  • Message: Enter the description for your Pin.
  • Images: Upload images for your Pin.
  • Board: Select the target board.
  • Link: (Optional) Add a destination URL for the Pin.
  • Click Post to publish immediately or schedule it for later.

4.4. Analytics

  • Odoo retrieves analytics for your Pins and Boards.
  • metrics include Impressions, Saves (Pin clicks), Outbound Clicks, and more.
  • View these metrics in the Social Marketing dashboard.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Redirect Mismatch Error: Ensure the callback URL in Pinterest App settings exactly matches your Odoo URL (including https and trailing slashes if any).
  • Authorization Failed: Check if your App ID and Secret are correct and if the mode (Sandbox/Production) matches your app status.
  • API Limits: In Sandbox mode, you have strict rate limits. Ensure you are not exceeding them.
