TikTok Integration Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up TikTok integration with your Odoo instance using the social_tiktok module.

1. Create and Configure TikTok App

1.1. Create Developer Account

  • Visit the TikTok for Developers Portal
  • Sign up for a developer account if you haven't already
  • Verify your email address and complete account setup

1.2. Create New App

  • Log in to the TikTok for Developers Portal
  • Click "My Apps" in the top navigation
  • Click "Create App"
  • Fill in the required information:
    • App Name
    • App Description
    • App Icon (optional)
    • Platform (select "Web")
    • Category (e.g., "Business" or "Social")
  • Click "Create" to proceed

1.3. Configure App Settings

  • In your app dashboard, go to "App Settings"
  • At the "Products" -> "Login kit" -> "Web" Add your OAuth callback URL:
    https://your-odoo-domain.com/tiktok_account/authentication

1.4. Enable Content Posting API

  • In the left sidebar, click "Products"
  • Find "Content Posting API" and click "Add"
  • Enable the following capabilities:
    • Direct Post (for immediate posting)
    • Upload (for draft uploads)
  • Under "Verify domains" section ("You only need to do this if you want to post photos, if just video please ignore this step"):
    1. The video/content can be posted in two ways: push_by_file and pull_by_url
    2. To enable pull_by_url functionality, click "Verify" button
    3. Enter your domain (e.g., your-odoo-domain.com)
    4. Click "Verify" and tiktok will add you to add a DNS txt record to your domain to verify
    5. After you add DNS record to your domain wait for a few time then click verify to complete the verify domain process

1.5. Configure Required Scopes

  • In your app settings, go to "Scopes"
  • Enable the following scopes:
    • user.info.basic (Basic user info)
    • user.info.stats (User statistics)
    • user.info.profile (Profile information)
    • video.publish (Post videos directly)
    • video.upload (Upload video drafts)
    • video.list (List user videos)
  • Save the scope configuration

1.6. Get API Credentials

  • In your app dashboard, locate:
    • Client Key
    • Client Secret
  • Keep these credentials secure - you'll need them for Odoo configuration

2. Configure Odoo Module

2.1. Install Module

  • Go to Apps in your Odoo instance
  • Search for "d_social_tiktok"
  • Click Install

2.2. Configure TikTok Credentials

  • Go to Settings → Social Media
  • Scroll to the "TikTok Integration" section
  • Enter your TikTok app credentials:
    • Client Key
    • Client Secret
  • Click Save

4. Usage

4.1. Post Content

  • Go to Social Media → Posts
  • Create a new post
  • Select your TikTok account
  • Choose post settings:
    • Post Mode (Direct Post or Upload)
    • Media Type (Video or Photo)
    • Privacy Level
  • Add your content and post

4.2. Content Guidelines

  • Videos:
    • Supported formats: MP4, WebM
    • Maximum file size: 256MB
    • Duration: Up to 10 minutes
  • Photos:
    • Supported formats: JPEG, WebP
    • Maximum file size: 20MB
    • Up to 35 images per post

5. Troubleshooting

Common Issues:

  • Authentication Failed: Verify your Client Key and Secret
  • Scope Error: Ensure all required scopes are enabled
  • Upload Failed: Check file format and size limits
  • Callback URL Error: Verify the OAuth callback URL matches your Odoo domain

7. Submit App for Review

Note

Without app review approval, your app will be in sandbox mode with limitations: - Can only post to private accounts - Limited API quota - Some features may be restricted

Important

To post content to public accounts in public mode, you MUST submit your app for review at: https://developers.tiktok.com/application/content-posting-api

Without approval, you can only post to private accounts or in private mode.

7.1. Prepare for Submission

  • Ensure your app has all required configurations:
    • Valid OAuth callback URL
    • Proper scope configurations
    • Domain verification (if using photo posting)
    • Privacy Policy URL
    • Terms of Service URL

7.2. Create Demo Video

  • Record a comprehensive demo video (MP4 or MOV format, max 50MB):
    1. Show the complete user flow
    2. Demonstrate all features you're requesting access for
    3. Include:
      • Account connection process
      • Posting content (both video and photos if applicable)
      • Any other features you're using

7.3. Submit for Review

  • Go to your app in TikTok Developer Portal
  • Click "Submit for Review"
  • Fill in required information:
    • App description
    • Test account credentials (if needed)
    • Demo video URL
    • Usage descriptions for each requested scope
    • Privacy Policy URL
    • Terms of Service URL
  • Submit and wait for approval

7.4. Review Status

  • Review typically takes 7-10 business days
  • You can check status in the Developer Portal
  • If rejected:
    1. Review the feedback provided
    2. Make necessary adjustments
    3. Resubmit with improvements
