Advanced Chatter Filter & Search Odoo App
Advanced Chatter Filter & Search Odoo App adds a search and filter bar right above the chatter on any record. On busy documents like sales orders, purchase orders, projects or tasks, the chatter turns into a long list of messages, notes, tracking logs and activities. Finding one old note, an attachment or an email used to mean scrolling forever. Now you type a word, pick a filter, and the answer is in front of you.
Search by keyword with the matches highlighted, or narrow the thread to a single type, a specific author, a date range, only items with attachments, or only starred messages. Save the filters you use often as presets, move the chatter to the side or bottom, and hide it on the screens where you do not need it. It is built for anyone who lives inside record chatter every day: sales, support, project and accounting teams.

Instant Search & Highlighting
Type a keyword to filter the chatter at once, with the matching words highlighted right inside the messages.
Filter by Entry Type
Show only messages, internal notes, logged changes, activities or emails using one-click chips above the thread.
Filter by Author
Choose a person to see only the messages, notes and activities that they added to the record.
Filter by Date Range
Limit the thread to today, the last 7 or 30 days, or a custom start and end date.
Attachment & Starred Filters
Show only entries that carry a file, or only the messages you have starred, in a single click.
Saved Filter Presets
Save a search and filter combination as a preset and reuse it, kept private to you or shared across the company.
Chatter Position Control
Keep the chatter in its default spot, force it to the bottom, or move it to a left or right side panel.
Full-History Search
When a thread is too long to load at once, search across the record's whole history, not just the part on screen.
Hide Chatter Completely
Switch the chatter off across the app to keep record screens clean and lighten heavy forms.
Per-Model Rules
Turn the filter bar on or off model by model, and per company, to leave chosen screens on the standard chatter.
Default Sort & Density
Set the starting sort order and display density, group logged changes, and adjust the view on any record.
Configure Chatter Filter Settings
Navigate to Odoo Settings and find the Chatter Filter application menu. Here you can toggle the master switch, configure visible control filters (types, author, date, attachments, starred, view options), set default density and sort order, customize chatter panel position (native, force bottom, force sided left/right), and activate deep server-side history search.
Filter and Search Inside Chatter Threads
Open any document form (e.g., a Sale Order). The advanced chatter filter bar is displayed directly above the chatter section. Search by keywords with instant match highlighting, or toggle filter badges to narrow logs down to messages, internal notes, tracking logs, or activities.
Filter by Author or Partner
Quickly isolate communications by selecting a specific author or partner from the dropdown list. This helps you focus on messages sent by particular users or customers without scrolling through the entire thread.
Attachment & Starred Toggles
Filter the chatter thread to show only messages containing file attachments or those marked as starred, making it simple to retrieve important documents and highlighted updates.
Date Range Filter
Narrow down chatter messages to specific timeframes using pre-defined date presets (today, last 7 days, last 30 days) or a custom start and end date.
Hidden Chatter View
Keep your document workspace clean and uncluttered by completely hiding the chatter thread when it is not needed, focusing entirely on the main record details.
Force Left Chatter Layout
Optimize your screen layout by moving the chatter panel to the left side of the screen. Fully customize the position to fit your workflow needs (left, right, or standard bottom layout).
Per-Model Rules & Exclusions
Customize the Advanced Chatter Filter behavior on a per-model basis. Easily disable the filter on specific models, which allows you to selectively exclude records or completely hide the chatter thread to optimize layouts for specific workflows (such as CRM Leads).
