Section & Note on Stock Picking in Odoo
Section & Note on Stock Picking Odoo App brings the familiar section-header and note-line experience from Sale and Purchase orders into your warehouse documents. On any Delivery Order, Receipt, or Internal Transfer, you can now group products under a clear heading and drop short instructions exactly where pickers need to read them.
When a Sale Order or Purchase Order containing sections and notes is confirmed, the same structure is copied across to its Delivery or Receipt automatically — the layout the salesperson or buyer built up stays intact all the way to the warehouse floor. You can also add headings or notes directly on the picking itself and drag-and-drop any row to fine-tune the order for a particular run.
These display lines never reserve stock, never appear as demand, and never get pushed into a backorder — they are pure document text. A dedicated Delivery Slip prints the sections and notes alongside the goods, and the standard Delivery Slip is upgraded to do the same. Useful for warehouses handling long orders, multi-zone picks, or recurring packaging and quality reminders that staff need to see at the right moment.
Features
- Section Headers on Pickings: Group products under bold section headers on Delivery Orders, Receipts, and Internal Transfers so long picking lists read like a structured checklist.
- Inline Notes for the Warehouse: Drop free-text note lines between products to capture packing tips, handling cues, or zone-specific instructions right where they apply.
- Auto-Sync from Sale to Delivery: Sections and notes added on a Sale Order are copied onto its Delivery the moment the order is confirmed, with the same order preserved.
- Auto-Sync from Purchase to Receipt: Sections and notes on a Purchase Order flow into the Receipt automatically on confirmation, keeping inbound documents consistent with the buyer's layout.
- Edit and Reorder on the Picking: Add a one-off section or note directly on the picking and drag-and-drop any row by its handle to adjust the sequence for a specific run.
- Safe for Stock and Backorders: Display lines reserve nothing, show no Demand or Quantity, and stay out of backorders — they cannot disturb availability or validation.
- Section-Aware Delivery Slip PDF: A dedicated Delivery Slip prints products grouped under their headers with notes inline, ready to hand to the picker.
- Standard Delivery Slip Upgraded: The default Delivery Slip is extended to render sections and notes too, so the printed document the warehouse already uses now reflects the new layout.
Sale Order with Sections and Notes
Build a quotation the usual way and use Add a section and Add a note next to Add a product. Headers like Sale Section and a closing note such as Sale Section End! sit between the product rows. Once you confirm, the Delivery smart button takes you straight to the picking that will inherit the same layout.
Purchase Order with Sections and Notes
The same controls appear on Purchase Orders. Group the vendor's items under a Purchase section header and close with a note line — when the order is confirmed, the Receipt smart button leads to the inbound document that already carries the structure.
Sections & Notes Carried into Delivery Orders
Open the Delivery Order linked to the Sale Order. The Sale Section header, every product, and the closing Sale Section End! note arrive in the Operations tab in the same order — pickers see the exact context the salesperson built, with no manual copying.
Sections & Notes Carried into Receipts
Inbound documents work the same way. The Receipt linked to the Purchase Order opens with the Purchase section header, the vendor's items, and the closing note all aligned to what the buyer entered — so the goods-in team reads exactly what purchasing intended.
Add or Reorder Lines on the Delivery
Need a one-off split for a particular shipment? Add fresh section headers — Sale 1, Sale 2, Sale 3, a closing Sale End! note — straight on the picking, and drag-and-drop any row by its handle to fine-tune the sequence without touching the Sale Order.
Add or Reorder Lines on the Receipt
The same flexibility applies to inbound. Add Purchase 1, Purchase 2, Purchase 3 headers and a closing Purchase End! note directly on the Receipt, then drag-and-drop to match the way you actually receive the goods at the dock.
Section-Aware Delivery Slip
Print the Delivery Slip for an outbound picking and the PDF arrives already grouped: section headers in bold, the closing note in italics, and Ordered versus Delivered quantities lined up next to each product — ready to hand to the picker.
Section-Aware Receipt PDF
The same treatment applies to Receipts. The printed document shows each Purchase group, the items beneath it, and the closing note — so the goods-in operator reads the buyer's layout on paper exactly as it appears on screen.
