POS Access Rights in Odoo
The POS Access Rights module for Odoo provides a comprehensive solution for managing granular cashier permissions within the Point of Sale. It empowers store managers to define exactly what each employee can and cannot do by configuring 16 distinct operational rights directly on the employee record. From restricting discounts and refunds to controlling price changes and session closure, this module ensures a secure and controlled retail environment through real-time enforcement in the POS interface.
Features
- 16 Granular Operator Permissions: Restrict actions per individual cashier, including discounts, price changes, refunds, and line removals.
- Configurable Discount Caps: Set a maximum discount percentage (0–100%) for each employee to prevent unauthorized price reductions.
- Real-time POS Enforcement: All permission checks are performed instantly in the POS frontend, blocking restricted actions via clear 'Access Denied' alerts.
- Secure Order Management: Define who can delete orders, process refunds, create invoices, or modify fiscal positions.
- Cash & Session Security: Control which employees can perform Cash In/Out movements or close the POS session.
- Customer & Product Control: Restrict rights for setting customers, creating new products, or switching back to the Odoo backend.
Activate POS Employee Login
Under Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings, enable Log in with Employees. This is the foundation for tracking and restricting operational actions per individual cashier.
Configure Secure Employee PINs
Navigate to the HR Settings tab on each employee record to define a unique PIN Code. This ensures that permissions are securely enforced for each specific operator.
Enable POS Access Rights Toggle
Navigate to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings and enable the Enable POS Access Rights feature. This activates the granular permission enforcement in the POS frontend.
Assign Granular Permissions to Employees
Open an employee form and navigate to the POS Access Rights tab. Here you can configure 16 distinct permissions, including discount caps, price changes, refunds, and order deletions.
Real-time Access Denied Alerts in POS
When a cashier attempts a restricted action—such as applying a discount above their cap—the POS system instantly blocks the operation and displays a clear 'Access Denied' dialog.
