POS Counter & Item Count in Odoo
The POS Counter & Item Count module is designed to provide real-time order visibility by displaying essential order metrics during the checkout process and on printed receipts. It enables configurable tracking of distinct item counts, total product quantities, and order counter/token numbers throughout the POS workflow. By giving cashiers and customers immediate access to these details, the module minimizes scanning errors, simplifies order verification, and enhances customer service in high-volume retail, restaurant, and takeaway environments.
Features
- Live Cart Metrics – Instant display of item counts (distinct lines) and total quantities (sum of all units) directly within the POS order summary.
- Real-time Counter Sync – Both cart and receipt counters update with zero latency as items are added, removed, or modified in the order.
- Prominent Tracking Numbers – Display a clear order counter/token number (e.g. #405) in the cart for easy order identification and pickup.
- Enhanced Receipt Transparency – Print counts and total quantities on the customer receipt in a dedicated, clearly separated section.
- Big Header Tokens – Optionally print the order counter number in a large, prominent font at the top of the receipt for rapid queue management.
- Independent Controls – Toggle each feature (Item Count vs Quantity, Cart vs Receipt) separately to create a configuration that fits your workflow.
Easy Activation and Setup
Navigate to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings. Locate the "POS Counter & Item Count" section, where you can independently enable item counts, quantities, or counter numbers for your cart and receipts.
Real-time Cart Summaries
As you add items to the order, watch your Item Count and Total Quantity update instantly in the cart sidebar. This provides cashiers with a quick way to double-check their scanning accuracy.
Detailed Order Receipts
Printed receipts will clearly display the final Item Count and Total Quantity after the payment lines, offering customers a transparent and professional summary of their purchase.
