POS Discount Limit in Odoo
The POS Discount Limit module is essential for Point of Sale environments that require strict control over pricing and profit margins. This module allows POS managers to enforce maximum discount limits at three levels: per product, per category, and per cashier. By defining these boundaries, you ensure that cashiers cannot apply discounts that exceed the business's profitability thresholds. When a discount is entered, the system automatically validates it against the most restrictive active limit, providing a secure and error-free checkout process.

1. Enable Discount Limits
Navigate to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings. Under the Products & Categories section, enable "Product Discount Limit", "Category Discount Limit", or "Cashier Discount Limit" as per your preference.
2. Set Product-Specific Max Discount
Open a Product form and go to the Point of Sale tab. Enter the POS Max Discount (%). This value defines the absolute maximum discount a cashier can apply to this product.
3. Configure Category-Level Limits
On any POS Category form, you can set a Max Discount (%). This provides a convenient way to enforce limits across entire groups of products.
4. Real-Time Discount Validation
When a cashier enters a discount, the system instantly validates it against all applicable limits. If the discount is too high, a warning dialog blocks the action and displays the allowed amount.
5. Management Authorization for Exceptions
In cases where a higher discount is necessary, a Manager can override the restriction via a confirmation dialog, allowing for authorized exceptions without changing the global policy.
