Search Panel Advance - Unified Search Experience
Integrates SearchBarMenu functionality into SearchPanel, eliminating dropdown fragmentation and providing unified advanced search operations.
Odoo's native search functionality is fragmented across three layers: SearchBar (basic search), SearchBarMenu (dropdown advanced search), and SearchPanel (specialized filtering). This separation creates a disjointed user experience.
Our module fundamentally redesigns this architecture by integrating SearchBarMenu's advanced filtering and grouping capabilities directly into the SearchPanel area. The toggle button that originally opened the dropdown menu now controls the visibility of an enhanced SearchPanel.
Even if the current object only defines a search view but not a SearchPanel, clicking the toggle button activates the SearchPanel area with full SearchBarMenu functionality. This means users can perform advanced custom searches without ever leaving the unified panel interface.
The redesigned pin functionality provides intelligent display control: when pinned, the SearchPanel remains permanently visible regardless of toggle button state - perfect for models with dedicated search views. When unpinned, the toggle button regains full control over panel visibility.
Unified Experience: This integration eliminates the awkward dropdown-to-modal workflow, providing a cohesive search experience where all advanced operations are accessible in a single, persistent interface.
The module maintains full backward compatibility with all existing SearchPanel configurations while dramatically improving usability. All settings are stored per user, ensuring personalized experience without affecting other users.
Special note: This module does not implement the native feature of the Custom FavoriteItem in SearchBarMuen in SearchPanel. This feature will be implemented in our other more advanced extension module.
