Advanced Document Management with Directory & Auto Numbering Odoo App

Document Directory and Numbering Extension for Attachments Odoo DMS

Enhanced Document Handling: Directory Structure & Numbering in Odoo

Odoo Document Management System with Folder Structure & Auto Numbering

This module enhances Odoo standard attachment system by introducing structured document directories, automated numbering per directory, and record based organization. It allows Document Managers to efficiently manage files from a central Documents menu, with directory specific access control and support for model and resource ID based folder structuring. If no directory is found, documents default to a generic DOC/ sequence. Ideal for teams needing secure, organized, and scalable document management within Odoo.

Main Features:

  • This app enhances Odoo standard attachment module by introducing advanced features such as document directories and numbering, enabling Document Managers to efficiently manage all files directly from the Documents menu.
  • Document Managers can structure folders by model/object, making document navigation and classification more efficient.
  • Each directory or folder maintains its own separate sequence numbering for attachments and documents. The sequence field is visible on the directory form, as shown in the screenshots below.
  • Directory specific security can be configured, enabling only designated user groups to access or create documents within a directory. If no group is assigned, access is unrestricted.
  • The Document Manager group controls access to the Document menu. This group must be assigned to users who are responsible for managing documents.
  • This app is tailored for Document Managers, offering a comprehensive solution to manage documents in Odoo, as illustrated below.
  • When no matching directory is found for a model or object, attachments will follow a generic sequence with the prefix 'DOC/'.
  • Directories can also be created for individual records by specifying their resource ID. Documents attached while viewing that record will then be automatically organized under the corresponding directory.
  • For a detailed walkthrough, please refer to the video and the screenshots below.
