STORY BEHIND THE FEATURE

ODOO BEHAVIOUR

In Odoo's standard Master Production Schedule (MPS), only confirmed Manufacturing Orders (MOs) are displayed in the +Actual column. Draft MOs, often used during the planning phase, are excluded until they are confirmed. This limitation can create a misconception that no progress has been made when replenishing from MPS, as the +Actual value stays at zero for unconfirmed MOs. Furthermore, Odoo lacks a total summary for +Actual or Suggested Replenishment at the bottom of the MPS view, making it difficult to evaluate overall production capacity or demand across multiple products or time periods

CLUEDOO BEHAVIOUR

The fal_mps_mo_ext module enhances the MPS functionality by introducing the following improvements:

  • ✅ Integrates both Draft MOs and Confirmed MOs into the +Actual column.

  • ✅ Provides a total summary for +Actual and Suggested Replenishment at the bottom of the MPS view.

  • ✅ Upgrades the wizard to display quantities for both Confirmed MOs and Draft MOs .

  • ✅ Enables filtering and viewing of Draft MOs within specific periods.

  • ✅ Improves production planning by offering a more comprehensive view of both confirmed and planned (draft) production activities.

COMPARISON: ODOO AND CLUEDOO

Odoo:

  • ✅ Displays only confirmed MOs in the +Actual column.

  • ❌ Excludes draft MOs, making them invisible in MPS.

  • ❌ Lacks a total summary for +Actual or Suggested Replenishment at the bottom.

  • ❌ Wizard does not distinguish between draft and confirmed MOs.

  • ❌ Prone to issues like multiple MO creation or incorrect replenishment quantities.

Cluedoo:

  • ✅ Includes both draft and confirmed MOs in the +Actual column for better visibility.

  • ✅ Adds a total summary for +Actual and Suggested Replenishment at the bottom.

  • ✅ Enhances the wizard to show quantities of both draft and confirmed MOs.

  • ✅ Provides a clearer view of planned and confirmed production activities.

BUSINESS CASE

Imagine a manufacturing company relying on MPS to plan production across various products and time periods. In standard Odoo, only confirmed MOs appear in the +Actual column, leaving planners unable to account for draft MOs still in the planning stage. Moreover, without a total summary, production managers find it challenging to gauge overall capacity and demand. With the fal_mps_mo_ext module, both draft and confirmed MOs are visible in the MPS, and a total summary offers a clear snapshot of production requirements. This empowers better decision-making, particularly when evaluating capacity constraints such as work centers or holidays.

OUR FEATURES AS SOLUTIONS

Integrates both Draft MOs and Confirmed MOs into the +Actual and Suggested Replenishment column

Provides a total summary for +Actual and Suggested Replenishment at the bottom of the MPS view

Upgrades the wizard to display quantities for Draft MOs

Enables filtering and viewing of Draft MOs within specific periods

HOW TO USE MODULE

I. Include Draft and Confirmed MOs in +Actual

  1. Go to Manufacturing > Master Production Schedule from the main menu > You can see that both draft and confirmed MOs are included in +Actual/Suggested Replenishment
2.
  • Create a Draft MO via Manufacturing > Manufacturing Orders > Create .
  • Set the schedule date to fall within the desired MPS period in past/current/future period (e.g., May 2025).
  • Enable the "Show MO Draft MPS" option (If you unable it, your MO will not be caculated in MPS)
3. Refresh the MPS view; draft MOs will now appear in the +Actual column for the scheduled period.

In the wizard:

  • Confirmed Manufacturing Order : Shows the total of confirmed MOs.

  • Draft Manufacturing Order (New) : Shows the total of draft MOs.

Note:
  • If a draft MO (e.g., WH/MO/00046) with "Show MO Draft MPS" enabled is not counted, verify the schedule date aligns with the MPS period (e.g., 11/05 should count if within 1-31/05 week). Adjust the date if needed and recheck.
  • Clicking "Replenish" multiple times creates only one RFQ with the exact quantity
  • Replenish rule: If Demand is 50, On Hand is 6, and Actual is 25, replenishing creates an RFQ/MO for 19 (50 - 6 - 25), and Actual updates to 44.

II. View Total Summary at the Bottom of MPS

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the MPS view to see Actual and Suggested Replenishment Total

III. Customize Date Filters

  1. In the MPS search bar, adjust "Date" to "Start Date" and "End" to "End Date" for precise filtering.
