Stock Lots & Serial Numbers Priority
Assign a numeric priority to each lot or serial number so Odoo always consumes the highest-priority ones first during stock picking. Lower number means higher priority.
What does this module do?
Stock Lots & Serial Numbers Priority adds a Priority field to each lot and serial number. When Odoo needs to pick stock for an order, it selects the lot or serial number with the lowest priority number first, giving you full control over the consumption order beyond standard FEFO or FIFO strategies.
Priorities can be set individually on the lot form or updated in bulk directly from the lots list view using the Set Priority action. Access to edit priorities is protected by a dedicated security group.
Numeric priority per lot
Assign any integer to a lot or serial number. The lower the number, the higher the priority. Lots without a value are treated as lowest priority.
Works with lots and serial numbers
Priority applies to both tracked-by-lot and tracked-by-serial-number products. Use it alongside or instead of FEFO/FIFO removal strategies.
Bulk priority update
Select multiple lots in the list view and use the Set Priority action to update all of them at once without opening each record.
Restricted editing
Only users with the Stock Lot Priority permission can view or modify the Priority field, keeping traceability configuration under control.
Community and Enterprise
Compatible with Odoo Community, Enterprise, and Odoo.sh. Depends only on the core Inventory module.
Minimal setup
Enable lots and serial numbers tracking in Inventory settings, grant the security permission to the relevant users, and the Priority field is ready to use.
Priority field on the lot form
The Priority field appears on every lot and serial number form. Set a lower number to make a lot preferred over others during picking.
Priority in action
When stock is available across multiple lots, Odoo picks from the lot with the lowest priority number first.
Using lot and serial number priorities
Follow these steps to assign priorities to your lots and verify they take effect during picking.
-
Enable lots and serial numbers tracking
Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings and enable Lots & Serial Numbers under the Traceability section. Save the settings. This step is required for lots to be available.
-
Grant the permission to users
Go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users, open a user record, and enable Stock Lot Priority under the Inventory permissions. Users without this permission cannot see or edit the Priority field.
-
Set the priority on a lot or serial number
Go to Inventory > Products > Lots/Serial Numbers and open a lot. Enter a value in the Priority field. A lower number gives the lot higher priority. Save the record.
-
Bulk-update priorities from the list
In the lots list view, select one or more records using the checkboxes, then click Set Priority in the action toolbar. Enter the new priority value and confirm to apply it to all selected lots at once.
-
Verify the priority during picking
Create a delivery or internal transfer for a product tracked by lot. Odoo will reserve stock from the lot with the lowest priority number first.
Configuration
Two settings are required before the module is fully operational: enabling lot tracking in Inventory and granting the priority permission to users.
1. Enable Lots & Serial Numbers
Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings. Under the Traceability section, enable Lots & Serial Numbers and click Save. Without this setting the lots menu is not visible.
Inventory > Configuration > Settings > Traceability -- Lots & Serial Numbers
2. Grant the Stock Lot Priority permission
Go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users. Open each user who needs to view or edit lot priorities and enable the Stock Lot Priority option under the Inventory section.
Settings > Users -- Stock Lot Priority permission
