Configure Time Off Type & Approval Workflow

Set up each time-off type with precision—choose whether it requires no validation, single-level, two-step, or full three-level approvals involving Direct Manager, Time Off Officer, and HR Manager. This flexible configuration ensures that sensitive leave types (like Paid Time Off or Emergency Leave) follow a rigorous path, while routine requests remain streamlined. Submit and Track Time Off Request

Employees initiate leave requests directly from their dashboard by selecting the time-off type, dates, and a brief description. Once submitted, the request enters a structured, status-driven approval flow—automatically progressing through Line Manager → Time Off Officer → HR Manager, depending on the configured policy. Each stage is clearly marked (e.g., “To Approve”, “Approved”), and actions like “Approve” or “HR Approval” appear based on the user’s role. HR Manager Review

At this stage, the time-off request has passed through initial approvals and now awaits final validation by the HR Manager. The system highlights the current status clearly (“HR Manager”), enabling HR to review key details—dates, duration, reason—and make an informed decision. A single click on "HR Approval" confirms the request and logs it instantly in the chatter for full traceability. This step enforces executive oversight, ensures alignment with company policies, and closes the loop in your multi-level approval workflow.

Final Approval

The final approval is now executed—either by the HR Manager or the designated final approver based on the configured workflow. A single click on the Approve button transitions the request to Approved state, and Odoo automatically logs this approval in the chatter with a timestamped confirmation. Simultaneously, planned activities are updated, and any relevant stakeholders are notified.
