Child Allowance (HR & Payroll)
for Odoo
Gain effortless control over Child Allowance benefits employees submit requests with proof, managers and HR approve in a guided workflow, and the allowance flows into payroll automatically. The module enforces eligibility (Local employees only), requires at least one child and one supporting document, and prevents double counting by marking approved requests as paid once the payslip is processed. Allowance amounts appear read-only on contracts, show on payslips via a dedicated salary rule (CHLALW), and every step is tracked for audit.

Approved requests flow straight into payslips via a dedicated salary rule (CHLALW), appear read-only on contracts for transparency, and are automatically flagged as paid once payroll is processed eliminating duplicate payouts and manual checks. Every action submissions, approvals, rejections, document uploads is recorded in Odoo for airtight audit trails and policy compliance. Whether youâre standardizing HR benefits, reducing back-and-forth with employees, or preparing month-end payroll, this module centralizes your child allowance workflow, increases accuracy, and elevates employee self-service without spreadsheets or rework.

Assign Child Allowance Roles
Go to Settings - Users - Access Rights and set the Child Allowance level for each user: Base User â can submit requests and see their own. HR Team â reviews/forwards requests from their department. HR Manager â full visibility and final approval. This step ensures the right people can submit, review, and approve child-allowance requests.
Open Child Allowance from Employee Benefits
From the Employees app, go to Employee Benefits - Child Allowance. This opens the list of requests for your company. Click New to submit a request (Base User). Use Filters/Group By to find records by Employee or Status. Line Managers and HR can review, approve, or reject from here based on their roles.
Create Request & Add Children
Fill the Child Allowance form, add each child with Birth Date and Birth Country, then attach proofs in Supporting Documents. Review the details while in Draft, and click Send to HR Team to start the approval workflow. (You can still edit until itâs submitted.)
Line Manager Review (HR Team)
Verify the request details and documents. If everything looks correct, click Send to HR Manager to escalate for final approval. If information is missing or incorrect, use Reject (add a clear reason in a log note) or Cancel if the request should be withdrawn. Use Send message for client-facing replies and Log note for internal comments.
HR Manager Final Approval
Review the employeeâs request and supporting documents at the HR Manager stage. If everything complies with policy, click Approve to finalize the request this locks the record, marks it ready for payroll, and moves the status to Approved. Use Reject (with a clear reason in a log note) if requirements arenât met, or Cancel to withdraw the request. Use Send message for client-facing replies and Log note for internal comments.
Request Approved
The Child Allowance is approved. The record is now read-only, logged in the chatter, and ready for payroll processing (salary rule CHLALW). If needed, you can still Cancel to withdraw the approval before payroll is finalized.
