How It Works

*Keyword Autocomplete

Type * followed by a keyword in any Discuss message or chatter. Autocomplete suggests matching roles as you type. Select a role to mention every member at once.

Automatic Notifications

When you post a message with a role mention, every member of that group receives a notification. No manual follower management needed.

Visual Badges

Role mentions display as colored badges in messages. Configurable background color and Font Awesome icon per role. Dark mode and print-friendly styling included.

Permission-Based Visibility

Regular users only see roles for groups they belong to. Administrators see all mentionable roles. Keywords are validated (3–30 characters, alphanumeric) and unique.

Setup Guide

Step 1 — Install
Install Kulturhaus Role Mentions from the Apps menu. No external Python dependencies — works with the standard Odoo stack.
Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Groups. Open any group, check Mentionable, and enter a keyword (e.g., board, support). Optionally set a badge color and icon.
Type *keyword in any Discuss message or chatter field. Select the role from autocomplete and post — all members are notified.

FAQ

Does this work with existing @user mentions?
Yes. Role mentions use the * delimiter and coexist with @user and #channel mentions.
Can regular users see all roles?
No. Users only see roles for groups they belong to. Admins see all.
What is Kulturhaus Bortfeld?
A cultural center in Lower Saxony, Germany. This module was built by board member Lars Weiler to solve real communication challenges — adding 10+ board members to every message manually was the pain point.

Finally less guessing, more doing.

In property management, everything is “someone should handle this” — until no one does. With Role Mentions, we just tag @Technik, @Verwaltung, @Buchhaltung and it actually lands where it should.

No more CC chaos, no chasing people, no “was that my task?”. It’s clear, fast, and a bit brutally efficient.

Nothing fancy — just removes friction where you feel it every day.
