Botswana PAYE Payroll
BURS resident & non-resident PAYE, approved-pension relief, Vocational Training Levy — Odoo 18 & 19
Run Botswana statutory payroll directly in Odoo. Built on the standard
hr app with its own payslip and computation engine —
no Enterprise payroll dependency. Botswana has
no national social-security fund, so the module withholds
PAYE only and reflects the statutory reality faithfully instead of
inventing deductions.
BURS PAYE, the right way
PAYE is computed by the official BURS annualising / averaging method: the period pay is annualised, the annual bands are applied, and the annual tax is divided back to the period. Both the resident scale (0% / 5% / 12.5% / 18.75% / 25%) and the non-resident scale (no zero-rate band) ship as editable models.
Approved-pension relief
Optional employee contributions to an approved superannuation scheme are allowed against taxable pay up to 15% of gross under the Income Tax Act, reducing both chargeable pay and net pay automatically.
Vocational Training Levy
The employer’s HRDC Vocational Training Levy (0.05% of turnover up to BWP 2,000,000, 0.20% above) is computed in the statutory remittance summary alongside the PAYE total, ready to remit to BURS.
BURS TIN validation
Employee and company Tax Identification Numbers are validated to the 8–12 digit BURS format used on returns and on the 2026 electronic-VAT invoicing roll-out.

Editable, audit-ready
Every band, rate, threshold and the pay-periods-per-year are editable configuration, with the current statutory defaults pre-seeded. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles annualise correctly.
BYOK & private by design
The pure-Python computation engine is fully unit tested. It produces the statutory figures and register locally — you file them through BURS with your own credentials. No employee data leaves Odoo and nothing is transmitted to any third party.
