Japan Payroll
Gensen withholding, social insurance, employment insurance & resident tax — for Odoo 18 & 19
Run Japanese statutory monthly payroll directly in Odoo, built on the
standard hr app with no Enterprise dependency. The payslip
and the entire computation engine are this module's own models, and every
rate, grade ladder and table is editable from the company configuration.
Income-Tax Withholding (源泉徴収)
Uses the National Tax Agency electronic computation method for the monthly withholding table, column Kō (月額表 甲欄). Taxable pay is reduced by the salary-income + basic deduction and by the per-dependant deduction, the marginal bracket (with the 2.1% Reconstruction Special Income Tax folded in) is applied, and the result is rounded down to the nearest ¥10 — reproducing the printed NTA table to the yen.
Social Insurance (社会保険)
Health insurance, long-term care insurance (age 40-64) and employees' pension are computed on the standard monthly remuneration grade (標準報酬月額), not raw salary, with the statutory 50/50 employee/employer split and half-yen rounding. Pension is capped at the top grade.
Employment Insurance & Resident Tax
Employment insurance (雇用保険) is charged on gross pay at the general-business rates, with a per-employee exemption flag. Resident tax (住民税) is withheld as the monthly special-collection amount from the municipal notice.
My Number Validation
The 12-digit Individual Number (個人番号) is validated for format and the statutory check digit defined by the施行令, catching transcription errors before they reach a withholding statement.
Payroll Run & Register
Populate employees, compute every component and net pay per employee, and export a CSV or Excel payroll register (賃金台帳) with run totals. A statutory remittance summary totals each contribution by collecting body: Japan Pension Service, Labour Bureau, NTA and the municipality.
BYOK & Editable
The engine computes the statutory figures locally and produces the register; you file them through e-Gov, e-Tax and eLTAX with your own credentials. No employee data leaves Odoo. Defaults ship for 協会けんぽ Tokyo FY2025 and NTA令和7年 coefficients and are fully editable for another prefecture or tax year.
