Sri Lanka Payroll for Odoo
APIT (PAYE), EPF 8% + 12% and ETF 3% — computed per employee
Run statutory Sri Lankan payroll directly in Odoo. This module computes Advance Personal Income Tax (APIT / PAYE), the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employees' Trust Fund (ETF) for every employee, produces a payroll register (CSV and Excel), the monthly EPF contribution schedule and a statutory remittance summary split by collecting body (IRD, EPF and the ETF Board). It is built on the Human Resources app and carries its own payslip and computation models, so it needs no Enterprise payroll. Compatible with Odoo 18 and Odoo 19, Community and Enterprise.
APIT on the editable IRD Table 1 scale
Monthly APIT (Advance Personal Income Tax) on regular profits from employment using the official IRD Table 1 cumulative-deduction method: a tax-free relief of LKR 150,000 per month and the progressive rates of 6%, 18%, 24%, 30% and 36%. The band scale — including the cumulative deduction constants that keep the table continuous at each boundary — is a fully editable model, so you adjust it whenever the IRD revises the table.
EPF 8% employee + 12% employer
Employees' Provident Fund contributions on contributory earnings: the statutory 8% deducted from the employee and 12% paid by the employer, crediting 20% to the member's EPF account each month. The contributory base can differ from gross pay, and the employer rate is configurable for collective agreements that contribute more.
ETF 3% employer
Employees' Trust Fund contribution at 3% of contributory earnings, paid entirely by the employer with no employee deduction, exactly as the ETF Act requires.
EPF member references & returns
Each employee carries an EPF member serial, validated and combined with your registered employer EPF number (e.g. A/12345) into the full member reference printed on the monthly EPF contribution schedule the module generates.
What you get
| Component | Rate / Rule | Side |
|---|---|---|
| APIT (PAYE) | IRD Table 1: relief LKR 150,000; 6% / 18% / 24% / 30% / 36% | Employee withholding to IRD |
| EPF | 8% employee + 12% employer (20% credited) | Employee & employer to EPF |
| ETF | 3% employer only | Employer to ETF Board |
| Net pay | Gross − EPF 8% − APIT − other deductions | Per employee |
| Cost to company | Gross + employer EPF 12% + ETF 3% | Per employee |
Payroll runs & register
Create a monthly payroll run, populate it from employees with a salary set, compute every statutory figure in one click, and export the payroll register as CSV or Excel with full totals. Runs carry a draft / computed / done workflow and a chatter log.
Statutory remittance summary
A wizard totals APIT to the IRD, EPF (employee 8% + employer 12%) and ETF (employer 3%) for a run, so you know exactly what to remit to each body and what the grand statutory liability is for the month.
How filing works
This module computes your statutory deductions locally and produces the payroll register and the EPF monthly contribution schedule. You file APIT with the Inland Revenue Department, and the EPF and ETF with the relevant bodies, using your own credentials — no employee data leaves your Odoo instance and the module transmits nothing to any third party.
All rates, the APIT band scale and the EPF/ETF percentages carry the current statutory defaults (IRD APIT Table 1 effective 1 April 2025, EPF 8%/12%, ETF 3%). Confirm them against the latest official IRD, EPF and ETF guidance before running live payroll.
