How It Works
The mobile app authenticates with a secure PIN (4 digits) and performs check-in/out via Odoo JSON-RPC. During work hours, the app submits GPS points in ISO 8601 format. The module calculates distance between consecutive points using the Haversine formula, aggregates a daily total on each attendance, and rolls up a monthly total for Travel Allowance. A Live Map Dashboard shows all currently clocked-in employees with their last location, accuracy, and today’s distance.

Setup Guide
Step 1: Install Live Employee Tracker
Copy live_employee_tracker into your custom addons path and install from Apps (Update
Apps List first).
Step 2: Configure System Parameters
Set defaults in Settings → Technical → System Parameters:
hr_attendance_api.min_distance_for_expense,
hr_attendance_api.rate_per_km (e.g. 5.0).
Step 3: Employee PIN & Permissions
Add a unique 4 digit PIN on the employee form. Ensure HR users/managers have the right access to view GPS & distance data.
Step 4: Travel Allowance Setup
It will automatically creates once the employee clock-out the attendance, and then you can link with Payroll (salary rule for allowance input).
Step 5: Live Map Dashboard
Open Attendances → Active Employees Map to watch real-time locations, accuracy, and today’s distance. Jump to location history or Google Maps in one click.
Installation
📁 Step 1: Copy Module
Copy the hr_attendance_api folder into your Odoo custom addons path.
⚙️ Step 2: Install App
Activate Developer Mode → Go to Apps → Update Apps List → Install HR Attendance API with Live Location Tracking.
🚀 Step 3: Restart Odoo
Restart your Odoo service for changes to take effect.
🔐 Step 4: Configure
Set employee PINs, system parameters (rate_per_km), and verify HR/Payroll security
groups.
Troubleshooting
Distance Shows 0.00 KM
Confirm at least two GPS points were received, accuracy is reasonable (<100m), and the app is sending updates during work hours.
Travel Allowance Not Calculating
Verify attendances exist for the month,
total_distance is populated, and rate_per_km is set.
Datetime Format Errors
Send ISO 8601 (e.g.,
2025-02-07T10:30:00.000Z). The module converts to Odoo format; confirm server timezone.
Map Not Showing Employees
Ensure employees are clocked-in and location logging is enabled in the app. Check Google Maps API availability if embedded maps are used.
Tip
Log incoming coordinates and computed distances on each update to quickly spot noisy GPS or large jumps.
