LB Local / External Product Classification for Odoo 18
Purchase Type Classification | Product Move Control | Order Weight Tracking | Purchase Order Line Visibility
Overview
LB Local / External Product Classification by LucidBrainz is a lightweight yet powerful module for Odoo 18 that enables businesses to classify their products as Local, External, or Local / External directly on the Product Template. This module is especially useful for import/export businesses, trading companies, and manufacturing firms that source products from both domestic and international suppliers. It also adds a Product Move flag to indicate whether a product is movable, an Order Weight field on Purchase Orders for logistics tracking, and a Purchase Type column on Purchase Order Lines for quick at-a-glance classification. Fully integrated with Odoo's standard Inventory and Purchase modules — no complex configuration required!
Key Features
- Purchase Type Classification on Product: Classify every product as Local, External, or Local / External directly from the Product Template form view. The field is placed next to the Category field in the General Information tab for quick access. Helps procurement teams instantly identify the sourcing origin of each product without navigating through multiple screens.
- Product Move Flag (True / False): A dedicated Product Move field on the Product Template indicates whether a product is physically movable. Displayed as a radio button widget with horizontal layout for a clean, intuitive UI. Ideal for businesses that need to distinguish between movable goods and fixed or non-transferable items within their inventory operations.
- Order Weight on Purchase Order: An Order Weight field has been added to the Purchase Order header, positioned next to the Vendor Reference field. This allows purchase managers and logistics teams to record the total weight of the order directly on the PO, facilitating freight cost calculation, shipping arrangements, and customs documentation without requiring a separate system.
- Purchase Type Column on PO Lines: The Purchase Type of each product is automatically reflected as a column in the Purchase Order Lines (Products tab). This is a related field pulled directly from the Product Template, so no manual entry is needed. Procurement teams can instantly see the classification of every product line — Local, External, or Local / External — without opening each product individually.
- Seamless Integration with Inventory & Purchase: This module inherits and extends Odoo's standard product.template, purchase.order, and purchase.order.line models with zero disruption to existing workflows. Compatible with all standard Odoo features including multi-company, multi-branch, and all existing product configurations. No existing data is modified — purely additive customization.
- Clean & Intuitive UI: All new fields are placed contextually within the existing Odoo views — Purchase Type and Product Move appear after the Category field on the product form, and Order Weight appears in the PO header. No new menus, no new models — just clean, purposeful additions to the screens your team already uses every day.
