Mail Client Pro - your real inbox inside Odoo

A complete IMAP/SMTP email client integrated into Odoo. Read, write, and reply to emails directly in your ERP - in a comfortable, three-pane layout like Thunderbird. Link any message to a contact, CRM lead, sales order, or task with one click. Messages stay on your IMAP server - Odoo never deletes them.

What this module provides

• Three-pane UI - accounts and folders on the left, message list on top, message body below. Resize panes to fit your screen.
• Multiple accounts per user - each user manages their own IMAP/SMTP accounts. Privacy guaranteed: users only see their own mailboxes.
• Gmail OAuth2 support - native OAuth flow for Gmail accounts. Other providers connect via standard IMAP/SMTP credentials.
• Fernet-encrypted credentials - passwords and tokens are encrypted at rest using Fernet (AES-128 with HMAC). Keys are never logged or exposed.
• Passive mode by design - the module does not modify, delete, or move messages on your IMAP server without your explicit action. No automatic deletion, no surprise sync side effects.
• Odoo record linking - link any email to a contact, CRM lead, sales order, project task, or helpdesk ticket. Linked messages appear in the record chatter.
• Full composer - new messages, reply, reply-all, forward with original quoted. Sent through SMTP, copy saved to Sent folder, custom HTML signature.
• Auto-sync scheduler - optional background sync every few minutes for Inbox and Spam folders. Other folders synced on demand.
• Lazy attachment loading - message bodies and attachments are fetched only when you open the message. Saves bandwidth and storage.

Setup and usage

1. Add an email account

Go to Mail Client → Configuration → My Accounts and click New. Fill in name, email address, provider (Gmail OAuth or Generic IMAP), and IMAP/SMTP server details. For Gmail, server fields auto-fill - just authorize via OAuth. Click Test Connection, then Sync Folders to fetch your folder list.

2. Read your inbox

Open Mail Client → Inbox. The first account opens automatically. Select a folder on the left, click a message in the list to read it below. By default the last 14 days of messages are fetched - use Older to load history. Click the dot to mark read/unread, the star to flag. Changes sync back to the server.

3. Compose and link to Odoo

Click New to write, or Reply / Reply All / Forward from the message body panel. Recipients and subject auto-fill with original quoted. The message is sent through SMTP and a copy is saved to Sent. To attach a message to an Odoo record, click Link to Odoo, choose the record type (contact, CRM lead, sales order, task, ticket) and the record itself. The message content appears in the record chatter.
