Restrict Data Export & Download

Block Excel/CSV data export and download capabilities for unauthorized users to protect sensitive business information.

KEY FEATURES

Export Button Blocking

Hides the Export button from list views for all users who are not in the authorized group.

Dedicated Security Group

Creates an Allow Data Export group for granular, per-user permission control.

Data Leak Prevention

Prevents unauthorized export of sensitive data like customer lists, pricing and cost information.

Blocked Attempt Logging

Records all blocked export attempts in the system log for administrator review and auditing.

TECHNICAL SPECS
▶ Creates security group group_export_data within the base module
▶ Uses ir.rule access rules for backend enforcement
▶ Inherits base view to conditionally show/hide the Export button
▶ Button visibility controlled via groups= attribute for proper access control
HOW IT WORKS
1 Install the module - Export button is hidden for all users immediately
2 Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Users
3 Assign the Allow Data Export group only to authorized users
4 Only users in that group can see and use the Export button
