What does this module provide?
This module prompts cashiers for a guest count whenever they select an empty table in restaurant POS. It uses the standard Odoo guest numpad popup — the same one opened by the Guests action button — so staff already know how to use it. The popup appears before the order screen opens, ensuring the cover count is set from the start. Enable or disable the feature per Point of Sale with a simple boolean setting under POS Configuration.

Standard POS Guest Popup

Empty Tables Only
The popup only appears when the selected table has no active orders. Reopening an occupied table skips the prompt and goes straight to the existing order.

Built for restaurant floors with tables. Depends on pos_restaurant and works with the standard Floors & Tables map in Odoo 19.
Guest Count on the Order
After the cashier confirms the number, the order opens with the guest count already applied — visible on the order screen and ready for reporting and service.
1) Enable the Feature — POS Settings
Open Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings, select your restaurant POS, and enable Guest Count on Empty Table. The setting asks for the number of guests with the standard guest popup whenever an empty table is selected.
2) Select an Empty Table — Guest Count Popup
When the cashier taps any empty table on the floor map, the standard guest-count numpad opens immediately. Enter the number of guests and confirm — before the order screen appears.
3) Order Screen — Guest Count Applied
After confirming the guest count, the cashier is taken to the order screen. The selected number of guests is already set on the order — ready for taking products and continuing service as usual.
When does the guest count popup appear?
It appears when a cashier selects an empty table in restaurant POS and the feature is enabled for that Point of Sale. Tables that already have active orders are not interrupted.
Is this a new popup or the standard Odoo one?
It is the standard POS guest count popup — the same numpad used by the Guests action button. Cashiers already know how to enter the number and confirm.
How do I enable the feature?
Go to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings, select the restaurant POS, and enable Guest Count on Empty Table. Save the settings before testing in a new or closed session as needed.
Can I enable it for only some POS shops?
Yes. The setting is per Point of Sale. Enable it for restaurants that need guest covers at seating, and leave it off for others.
What happens after I confirm the guest count?
The cashier is taken to the order screen with the guest count already applied to the order. Product selection and service continue as usual.
Does this work with Floors & Tables?
Yes. The module is designed for restaurant POS with the Floors & Tables map. It depends on pos_restaurant.
Will it ask again when I reopen the same table?
No. Once the table has an active order, selecting it again opens that order without showing the guest popup again.
Which Odoo editions and deployment modes are supported?
The module is compatible with Odoo 19 Community and Enterprise on On-Premise, Odoo Online, and Odoo.sh. It depends on pos_restaurant.
