Advanced File/Document Management: Major and Minor Versioning Features
Advanced Document Version Control: Major and Minor Versions for Odoo
This Odoo app enhances the enterprise Documents module by introducing major and minor versioning functionality, enabling seamless tracking and automatic updates of document version numbers.
Main Features of the Major and Minor Versioning App for Odoo:
- Automatic Document Version Creation:
- Generates a new version for a document if it has the same file name and extension as an existing one.
- Configurable Version Update Rules:
- Users can define whether updates should increment a Major (e.g., 1.0 to 2.0) or Minor (e.g., 1.0 to 1.1) version directly in folder settings.
- Dynamic Version Updates Based on Folder Settings:
- If the folder is set to Minor Version Update, the system will automatically create a new version like 1.1 for documents within that folder.
- If the folder is set to Major Version Update, the system will create a version like 2.0 for the documents.
- File Duplication Detection:
- Automatically detects if a file with the same name and extension exists and updates its version number without creating duplicate entries.
- Folder-Specific Version Control:
- The option to specify Major or Minor updates is available exclusively in the Folder Details form, making it easy to manage versioning rules for specific workflows
- Updated Details Menu in the Latest Version:
- In older Odoo18 Enterprise version, the Details menu was used to view file and folder details.
- In the latest version, the Info and Tags menu and icon shown in screenshot is now used to display details of files and folders, aligning with Odoo's updated interface.
- Clear Documentation and Guidance:
- Includes screenshots and a video demonstration for better understanding and implementation of the apps features.
