Easily Search Anything in Odoo from One Place

This module introduces a modern and efficient Global Search feature in the Odoo backend. It enables users to search across multiple models, view grouped results, navigate using the keyboard, and access frequently used records, all from a centralized floating popup. It boosts productivity by drastically reducing the time to locate or access records. The interface is clean, fast, and fully mobile responsive, ensuring a seamless experience across devices.

Main Features:

• One Click Search Box:
  • Open a simple search box from the top bar to quickly search for any record in your system.
• Grouped Results by Type:
  • Results are neatly grouped for example, Contacts, Sale Orders, Journal Entries so you can easily find what you are looking for.
  • Note: Grouping is done based on each model's description, providing user friendly and meaningful group titles.
• Keyboard Friendly:
  • Use your keyboard to move up and down in the results, press Enter to open the search result.
• Recent Searches:
  • It remembers your recent searches, so you can return to them instantly without retyping.
• Clean, Modern & Mobile Responsive Design:
  • The interface feels like Odoo Enterprise clean, beautiful, intuitive, and fully optimized for mobile and tablet use.

• Model Filtering:
  • The app searches records only from models that include *Has Mail Thread* and *Has Mail Activity*, ensuring relevance and performance.
• Display Name Based Search:
  • All searches are performed using the display_name field of each model, giving users the most natural and recognizable results.
• Record Images Displayed:
  • If available, the module displays the record image using the image_1920 field, making it easier to visually identify records e.g., contacts or products.

Workflow:

• Install the App:
  • After installation, a new search bar with icon will appear at the top of your screen.
• Open the Search Popup:
  • Click the icon to open the global search interface.
• Type What You re Looking For:
  • Begin typing for example, a contact name, sale order number, or project name.
• See Grouped Results:
  • Results are organized by model like Contacts, Sale Orders, etc., helping you quickly spot what you need.
• Access Recent Searches:
  • Previously searched terms are saved and easily accessible no need to type them again.

Opening a Record in Form View

• Displays the detailed form view after selecting a record from the search results.
• Note: The form view opens within the last active menu, not based on the selected record model. This is a limitation in Odoo the top menu does not automatically switch to match the selected records model.

• Displays up to 5 recent search terms for quick access.
