Password Strength Module
Overview
The Password Strength module is an add-on that allows administrators to enforce strong password policies in Odoo. It ensures that users create secure passwords that meet predefined criteria, enhancing the overall security of the system.
Features
The following password policies can be activated by the administrator:
- Enforce minimum password length.
- Require a use of uppercase
- Require use of lowercase
- Require use of numbers
- Require use of special characters
Real-time feedback is provided to users when setting passwords for the first time, or resetting passwords. Only passwords that meet the defined criteria can be saved. If a password does not meet the requirements, an error message is displayed, and the save button is only enabled when the password meets the criteria.
Installation
- Navigate to Apps.
- Search for Password Strength, make sure to not filter by Category = Apps.
- Activate the module.
Configuration
- Navigate to Settings --> Permissions.
- Activate the Enforce Password Restrictions checkbox.
- Activate the desired password policies.
Usage
- When creating or updating a user password, the system will validate it against the policies defined by the admin.
- If the password does not meet the criteria, an error message will be displayed, and the save button will only be available if the selected password meets the defined criteria.
