POS Expiry Alert
Auto-Assign Lots & Alert Cashiers on Expired or Near-Expiry Stock
Overview
POS Expiry Alert extends the Point of Sale lot handling workflow to protect your customers and your business from expired products. Lots are automatically selected using FEFO (First Expired, First Out) logic — no manual input needed by the cashier — and instant alerts notify staff whenever an expired or near-expiry product is being sold.
Key Features
Automatic FEFO Lot Assignment
Bypasses the standard lot/serial number selection popup. Lots are auto-assigned
in First Expired, First Out order based on real-time stock at the POS location.
Expired Lot Alert Dialog
If the auto-assigned lot is already expired, a prominent, unmissable alert dialog
is displayed to the cashier before the item is added to the cart.
Near-Expiry Warning Toast
If the lot expires within the configurable warning window (default: 30 days),
a warning toast notification appears so staff can take action proactively.
GS1 Barcode Expiry Check
When a GS1 barcode containing a lot number is scanned, the expiry of that
specific lot is checked immediately and the cashier is notified of any issues.
Configuration
All settings are managed per POS configuration under Point of Sale → Configuration → Settings.
Auto-Assign Lots (Skip Popup) — Enable FEFO auto-assignment and suppress the manual lot selection popup.
Expiry Warning Window (days) — Set how many days before the expiration date to start showing near-expiry warnings. Set to 0 to show warnings only for already-expired lots.
Requirements
- Odoo 19.0
- Point of Sale module (
point_of_sale) - Expiration Dates feature (
