MULTI SALES UoM
Multi Sales UoM enables sales team capture multiple Unit of Measures associated with a single product in the market there by enhancing the quality of the interaction with the customer and reducing manual work during order processing.
How Quantity Conversion Works
Formula:
Qty in SUoM = Standard Quantity × [Standard UoM Ratio / Sales UoM Ratio]
Example:
- Standard UoM = Kilogram (kg) (Ratio = 1)
- Sales UoM1 = Gram (g) (Ratio = 1000)
- Sales UoM2 = Ton (t) (Ratio = 0.001)
- Ordered Quantity = 5 kg
Converted Quantities:
- Qty in SUoM1 (Gram) = 5 × (1 ÷ 0.001) = 5000 g
- Qty in SUoM2 (Ton) = 5 × (1 ÷ 1000) = 0.005 t
How Price Conversion Works
Formula:
Unit Price in SUoM = Standard Unit Price × [Sales UoM Ratio / Standard UoM Ratio]
Example:
- Unit price in Standard UoM (kg) = $10 per kg
Converted Prices:
- Unit Price in SUoM1 (Gram) = $10 × (1000 ÷ 1) = $0.01 per g
- Unit Price in SUoM2 (Ton) = $10 × (0.001 ÷ 1) = $10,000 per t
Multi-UoM Support
Allows assigning Multiple Unit of Measures for a particular product in sale order. Any product can be assigned two UoM’s, Sales UoM1 & Sales UoM2 for flexible sales operations.
With this, in a sale order line, a single product can have three UoM’s with quantities and prices specified in all three UoM’s. Best fit for companies that deal with plastic products which can be sold in multiple units of measures - Meter, Feet and Inches - all at once.
User Access Control
A boolean field "Access to modify Sales UoM" restricts Sales UoM modification to authorized users only. And for those without access both fields will be read only.
Automated Default UoM Assignment
During product creation, Sales UoM1 & Sales UoM2 default to the standard UoM.
Category-Based UoM Selection
Users can change Sales UoM1 & Sales UoM2 only within the same UoM category as the standard UoM.
Dynamic Quantity Conversion
Qty in SUoM1 & Qty in SUoM2 automatically update based on Quantity and the UoM conversion ratio.
Dynamic Price Conversion
Unit Price in SUoM1 & Unit Price in SUoM2 adjust dynamically when Unit Price changes, ensuring accurate pricing.
A simple example for the conversion of pricing and UoM Calculation
- Sales UoM1 & Sales UoM2 are alternative units of measure for a product.
- The conversion happens automatically based on the UoM ratio.

Sales order
When making a sale, the user can select a product with multiple Sales UoMs, and its price will be automatically calculated in the respective fields.
If the quantity is changed in any UoM (Standard UoM, Sales UoM1, or Sales UoM2), the system will automatically adjust the other UoM quantities accordingly. Similarly, any price changes will reflect in the corresponding UoM pricing based on the conversion ratio.
Example
Selected Product: CPVC Pipe
- Standard UoM (Meters): 2 m - Price in Meters: $100 per meter
- Sales UoM1 (Feet): 6.56 ft - Price in Feet: $30.48 per ft
- Sales UoM2 (Inches): 78.74 in - Price in Inches: $2.54 per in
* UoM quantity ratio and pricing is auto-calculated from the UoM configuration
Scenario 1: User changes quantity to 10 feet
- Standard UoM (Meters) updates to: 3.048 m (10 ÷ 3.28084)
- Sales UoM2 (Inches) updates to: 120 in (10 × 12)
- Prices remain unchanged.
Scenario 2: User changes price in Standard UoM to $120 per meter
- Unit Price in Feet updates to: $120 × (30.48 ÷ 100) = $36.58 per ft
- Unit Price in Inches updates to: $120 × (2.54 ÷ 100) = $3.05 per in
- Quantities remain unchanged.
