Task Key brings short, permanent issue keys — the Jira-style WEB-12 format — to Odoo project tasks. Stop saying "the task about the login thing": every task gets a compact reference your team can say, type and search. The key is placed right inside the task name, so it shows everywhere the name shows — kanban cards, lists, form titles, breadcrumbs, emails and reports — with no extra views to learn.

The reference sits in front of the task name, so your kanban board reads like an issue tracker: OD-5, OD-7, OD-9 ... at a glance, in every view, with zero configuration.
A colleague says "check OD-3"? Type it in the search bar, pick Search Reference, and you land exactly on that task.
Because the key lives inside the name, it also appears in the form title, the breadcrumb, email notifications and printed reports — automatically.
Each project has a short Task Prefix (up to 10 characters), auto-suggested from the project name — "Research & Development" becomes RD. Edit it freely; uniqueness across projects is enforced so two projects can never hand out the same reference.
A dedicated Task Prefix Setup screen (Project > Configuration) lets you review and edit all prefixes in one editable list — plus a Regenerate Task References action to renumber after imports.
Built properly
- Numbering is concurrency-safe: the per-project counter is row-locked, so two users creating tasks at the same moment can never get the same number.
- Only depends on the standard Project app — no other apps required.
- No new mandatory steps for your users: everything happens automatically on task creation.
- Works with tasks created from email aliases, website forms and imports.
- An optional, hidden-by-default Ref column can be enabled in list views when you need the key as its own column in Excel exports.
