User-Specific Chatter Control

Install ps_chatter_control from Odoo Apps
Go to Apps and search for ps_chatter_control. Install the module to enable user-wise chatter restriction features. Once installed, you can start creating Chatter Control records to hide chatter for selected users and models.
Manage Chatter Control Access Using User Groups & Permissions
By default, the Administrator automatically receives the Chatter Control Manager group, allowing full access to the Chatter Control menu and the ability to create or manage chatter rules. For any other user, the admin can grant permission by enabling the Chatter Control Manager group from Settings → Users. Only users with this group can add or remove chatter visibility rules.
Chatter Control Menu Visible to Authorized Users
Once the Administrator or any user is assigned the Chatter Control Manager group, the Chatter Control menu becomes visible in the dashboard. These users can open the menu and create new Chatter Control records to define which users should have the chatter hidden for selected models.
Create a New Chatter Control Record
To create a new rule, simply enter a name for the configuration, enable the “Hide Chatter” option, select the user for whom you want to restrict the chatter, and choose the models where the chatter should be hidden. Once all details are added, save the record to apply the restriction instantly.
Chatter Hidden on Form View Based on Configuration
In this example, the Sale Order form view no longer displays the chatter section. This happens because the Administrator was added to a Chatter Control record, the Hide Chatter option was enabled, and the Sale Order model was selected. Once the rule is saved, the chatter is automatically hidden for that user on the selected models.
Chatter Hidden on Purchase Order as Well
Here, you can see that the chatter is fully hidden in the Purchase Order form — both at the bottom of the page and in the side panel. This is because the Purchase Order model was also added to the Chatter Control rule for the selected user. Once included in the configuration, the chatter instantly disappears from that model’s form view for that user.
Hide Only Messages or Followers Fine-Grained Chatter Control
Additionally, two extra options are available — Hide Messages and Hide Followers. These are useful when you want to keep the chatter panel visible but only remove messages or followers from the form. Simply enable these options to hide just those elements instead of the entire chatter section.
