Installation & Setup

Follow these simple steps to get your AI Assistant up and running:
Step 1: Get Your OpenRouter API Key

1. Visit https://openrouter.ai/keys

2. Sign up for a free account or log in

3. Generate your API key

4. Copy the API key for the next step

Step 2: Install the Module

1. Download the RAG Website AI Assistant module from the Odoo App Store

2. Copy the module folder to your Odoo addons directory

3. Update the Apps list and install "RAG Website AI Assistant"

Search for "RAG Website AI Assistant" in the Apps menu and click Install

Step 3: Configure the Module

1. Go to Settings > Website > Website AI

2. Paste your OpenRouter API key in the "OpenRouter API Key" field

3. Configure your company information:

  • Company Name: Enter your company name
  • Company Description: Provide a detailed description of your business
  • Key Products/Services: List your main offerings

By default, users can access the ai chat from your_website/ai-assistant

Step 4: Train the AI

A: Use Product Information

  1. Go to Inventory > Products > Products
  2. Product List View

    Navigate to the Products list in the inventory module

  3. Go to Inventory > Products > Products
  4. Product List View

  5. Select one or multiple products
  6. Select Products

    Click the "Teach AI" button in the list view header. The AI will learn about the selected products

5. Click Save

Viewing Conversation History

Access all AI conversations from the backend:

Use Contact Information

  1. Go to Contacts
  2. Contacts List View

    Navigate to the Contacts module

  3. Select contacts to teach to the Ai Assistant
  4. Select Contacts with Functions

    Click the "Teach AI" button to add contact information to the knowledge base

  5. Users can now ask "Who is the sales manager?" and get contact info
  6. Contact Info Success

    AI can now answer questions about team members and their contact details

The AI is multilingual

1. RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation)

The AI assistant uses RAG technology to provide accurate, context-aware responses based on your specific business data. Unlike generic chatbots, your AI assistant will only answer questions about YOUR products, services, and company information.

2. Dynamic Knowledge Base

Use the "Teach AI" button to dynamically build your AI's knowledge:

  • Products: Add product names, descriptions, prices, and SKUs
  • Contacts: Add team member functions, phone numbers, and emails
  • Bulk Operations: Select multiple records and train the AI all at once
3. Conversation Management

Track and analyze all customer interactions:

  • View conversation history by session
  • See visitor information (IP, name, user account)
  • Monitor message counts and timestamps
  • Review successful responses and errors
  • Archive old conversations

4. Flexible Deployment Options

5. Context Switching

Choose how your AI learns:

  • Manual Mode: AI uses company name, description, and key products you configured
  • Product Button Mode: AI uses dynamically added product and contact information

Switch modes anytime from Settings > Website AI

  • Enable/disable conversation tracking as needed
  • All data stored locally in your Odoo database
  • Secure API key management
  • No third-party data sharing

Yes, RAG Website AI Assistant works perfectly with both Odoo Enterprise and Community editions, as well as Odoo.sh.
