Set Up
Install the app from the Odoo App Store.
Navigate to a contact form (e.g., Contacts). You should observe that a "Search Location" field now appears, confirming the app's initial functionality.
Go to Settings >> General Settings.
Under the "Google API Key" section, check the box: "Enable Google API".
Enter your Google API Key, set the desired "Search Character" count (e.g., 3), and optionally select a "Search Particular Country" if you wish to restrict suggestions. Finally click Save.
To manually add this functionality to other modules:
- Go to Settings >> Technical >> Address >> Field Mapping.
- Click "New" to create a new field mapping.
- Select the Model (e.g., 'Companies' or 'Employee').
- Choose the Widget Field (the field where the address autofill input will appear, such as
'Street').
- In the "Field Mappings" section, click "Add a line" to map the Labels (e.g., Street, Street 2,
City, State, Zip Code, Country) to their corresponding Mapped Field within that model.
- Click Save.
Work Flow
Address Search Process:
- A user opens an Odoo form containing address fields (e.g., a contact record).
- The user starts typing an address into the "Search Location" field.
- As characters are entered, the system provides real-time address suggestions based on the Google
API.
Address Autofill & Data Entry:
- The user selects the correct address from the list of address suggestions.
- Upon selection, the module automatically populates the individual address components (Street,
Street 2, City, State, Zip Code, Country) into their respective fields.

Manual Widget & Field Mapping (for other modules):
- If the user wants this functionality on a module other than Contacts, they need to ensure the
address autofill widget is applied to the relevant field in that model.
- The administrator must also configure the Field Mapping in settings to link the address
components to the correct fields within that specific Odoo model.
