Detailed Features
When a portal user signs up through the Odoo website, their access is not granted immediately. Instead, a request is sent to an internal user designated with website signup approval rights.
Until approved, the user sees a message such as:
"Thank you for registering with us. We will send you a notification as soon as your registration is verified by the Administrator."
This prevents unauthorized user account control breaches.
Once configured, a new menu named User Approvals appears under Users & Companies for designated internal users. The interface allows admins to:
- View Name, Login, Company.
- See Approved or Blocked Users
- Click to Approve or Reject signup requests.
Once an internal user clicks Approve, an automated email is sent to the registrant with a login link. This provides seamless communication and secure access restoration through controlled sign up website processes.
If the user attempts to log in before approval, they receive a clear message:
"Kindly wait for the approval, you are not approved yet. With approval, you will be notified. Thanks."
This ensures that no unverified user can access the website prematurely.
Set Up
Install the app from the Odoo App Store.
Navigate to Settings >> Users & Companies >> Users.
Select the internal user(s) who will approve signups.
Under Technical, check the box: Website Signup Approval.
After enabling, a new menu User Approvals will appear under Users & Companies.
Work Flow
User Signup Process:
- A portal user visits your sign up website and fills in name, email, and password.
- After submitting, they see a message indicating their request is under review.
Admin Approval Panel:
- The internal user sees the request under User Approvals.
- Options available: Approve or Reject.
Post-Approval Email:
- Upon approval, the user receives an email with a login link.
- They can now log in and access the platform.
