Compatibility
Compatible with Odoo 18 Community and Enterprise installations that include Sales, Mail and Web modules. Included base language: English. Spanish PDF and email labels are supported when the active report language is Spanish. Other languages can be added through standard Odoo translations.
Technical Reports Pro
Technical Reports Pro creates configurable technical service reports from Odoo quotations and sales orders. It provides a reusable reporting engine with templates, catalogs, editable report sections, PDF preview, signatures, photos and email delivery.
Purpose
The module is intended for service companies that need to document field visits, maintenance work, repairs, installations, inspections and technical evaluations. Reports remain connected to the Odoo customer and sales workflow, improving traceability and reducing manual documentation outside Odoo.
Dependencies
The module depends on:
- sale for quotations and sales orders.
- sales_team for Sales user groups and sales access integration.
- mail for chatter, activities and email delivery.
- web for standard Odoo web widgets and signature support.
Security
The module defines two security groups:
- Technical Reports User: creates and edits technical reports.
- Technical Reports Manager: manages templates, catalogs and reusable sections.
Standard Sales users automatically inherit the report user group. This allows the Create technical report button to appear on quotations and sales orders for users who already work with Sales documents.
Report Workflow
- Open a quotation or sales order.
- Click Create technical report.
- Select the equipment type.
- Select a compatible template.
- Confirm the wizard.
- Complete the report form.
- Adjust builder sections if needed.
- Add observations, closing details, photos and signatures.
- Preview the PDF.
- Print, save or send the report by email.
Template Builder
Templates define the default report structure. A template can include ordered blocks for:
- Service background.
- Initial state.
- Technical checklist.
- Performed work.
- Materials and supplies.
- Functional tests.
- Observations and recommendations.
- Final state and scope.
- Approval and signatures.
- Photo register.
- Free text content.
Each template block can define:
- Sequence.
- Title.
- Description.
- Block type.
- Equipment scope.
- Visibility in the form.
- Visibility in the PDF.
- Page break before the block.
- Ordered lines.
Line Types
Template and report lines support several line types:
- Status line: Good / Fair / Bad / N/A.
- Check line: done checkbox.
- Material line: material, quantity and unit.
- Test line: Correct / Observation / Deficient / N/A.
- Text line: free text observations.
PDF Output
The QWeb PDF report includes:
- Report header.
- Customer and service summary.
- Equipment identification.
- Initial condition.
- Dynamic builder sections.
- Technical observations and recommendations.
- Final status and conclusion.
- Photo annex.
- Approval and signature section.
- Page numbering.
Email Delivery
Reports can be sent through Odoo's standard email composer. The module provides an email template and attaches the generated PDF report. User email signatures can be configured through Odoo's standard user preferences.
Photo and Signature Capture
The report form supports:
- Ordered photos with descriptions.
- Technician signature.
- Customer or representative signature.
This makes the workflow suitable for desktop and tablet use.
Multi-Company Rules
Reports belong to one company. Templates, catalogs and reusable sections can be global or restricted to specific companies.
When company restrictions are configured, users only see records allowed for their active companies. The module also validates default catalog values to avoid assigning company-specific values to incompatible templates or reports.
Language Behavior
English is the base language.
PDF and email labels can render in Spanish when the active report language is Spanish. The report language is resolved from the customer language, Odoo context, current user language and English fallback.
Additional interface translations should be generated with Odoo's standard translation export and import tools.
Included Sample Templates
The module installs generic sample templates:
- Preventive service report.
- Corrective service report.

These templates are neutral examples. Customers should copy and adapt them to their own industry, legal wording and service procedures.

Technical Reports Pro is designed as a core engine. Additional modules can depend on it to add industry-specific equipment catalogs, report templates and default values without modifying the core module.
