Smart Odoo MCP Server
Connect AI Assistants to Odoo. Zero Dependencies.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. Smart Odoo MCP Server turns your Odoo instance into an MCP-compatible tool server so AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and others can directly search, read, create, update, and delete Odoo records through natural conversation.
Key Features
Instant Setup
Install the module, run the setup script, and your AI assistant is connected. No npm modules, no external scripts, no complex configuration.
Secure by Default
Double-gated access control: admin-configured model permissions plus Odoo's native access rights. API key authentication on every request.
Granular Control
Choose exactly which models are exposed and toggle Read, Write, Create, and Delete permissions independently for each one.
Dynamic Tools
MCP tools are generated automatically from your allowed models. Add a model, and the AI assistant can use it immediately. No code changes needed.
Built-in Audit Log
Every tool call is logged with the user, parameters, result, and timestamp. Full visibility into what your AI assistant is doing.
Works with Any MCP Client
Compatible with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and any AI tool that supports the MCP protocol over SSE transport.
Quick Setup in 3 Steps
Install the Module
Install Smart Odoo MCP Server from the Odoo Apps menu. No extra dependencies.
Configure Models
Go to MCP Server → Configuration, click Add All Models or pick specific ones, and set permissions.
Connect Your AI
Go to the Connect tab, copy the setup command, and run it in your terminal. Done.
Setup Command
Run this single command in your terminal. No npm required.
Replace your-odoo.com with your domain and YOUR_API_KEY with your Odoo API key.
curl -sL https://your-odoo.com/mcp/setup.sh | bash -s -- \ --url "https://your-odoo.com/mcp/sse" \ --api-key "YOUR_API_KEY"
The script auto-detects and configures Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and Cursor.
A personalized command with your domain is available inside the module's Connect tab after installation.

Security
- API Key Authentication Every request requires a valid Odoo API key via
Authorization: Bearerheader orX-API-Keyheader. - Double Access Control First checked against admin-configured MCP permissions, then against Odoo's native
check_access_rights(). - Per-Model Permissions Each model has independent Read, Write, Create, and Delete toggles.
- User Context All operations execute as the authenticated user, not as superuser. Standard Odoo record rules apply.
- Audit Trail Every tool call is logged with parameters and results.
