US Address Standardize
Standardize & validate US addresses to USPS format (CASS-style, ZIP+4, deliverability) - BYOK
Standardize & validate US addresses to USPS format (CASS-style, ZIP+4, deliverability) - BYOK
Key Features
USPS Suffix & Directional Normalization
The local standardizer maps 50+ USPS Publication 28 street suffix spellings and aliases (AVENUE, BOULEVARD, CIRCLE, PARKWAY, and more) to their official abbreviation, and normalizes leading/trailing directionals such as NORTH to N and SOUTHWEST to SW, all without any API key.
Secondary Unit Detection
Secondary unit designators embedded in the street line, such as APARTMENT, SUITE, FLOOR, or a bare # marker, are detected, split onto their own line, and normalized to USPS abbreviations (APT, STE, FL) using the Publication 28 Appendix C2 designator table.
ZIP+4 & State Plausibility
ZIP codes are parsed into ZIP5/ZIP4 and cross-checked against real USPS ZIP-prefix-to-state ranges: a mismatch between the ZIP prefix and the entered state is flagged, and a missing state can be automatically backfilled from the ZIP.
Deliverability Quality Flag
Every standardization run returns a valid / needs_review / invalid quality grade plus a deliverable flag, together with human-readable notes explaining exactly what is missing, unrecognized, or inconsistent in the address.
BYOK USPS Web Tools
With your own USPS Web Tools User ID configured in Settings, the module builds and sends the official AddressValidate XML request and merges back the authoritative Address1/Address2/City/State/Zip5/Zip4 values, falling back cleanly to the local standardizer on any network error.
BYOK SmartyStreets
With your own SmartyStreets auth-id and auth-token, the module calls the us-street API and reads the DPV match code (Y/S/D deliverable, N undeliverable) to merge back the verified delivery lines, city, state, and ZIP+4 plus4 code.
Per-Contact Standardization
A dedicated US Address Standardization notebook page on the contact form shows status, deliverability, provider used, and the standardized street/street2/city/state/ZIP+4 side-by-side with the live address, with one-click buttons to Standardize Address and Apply Standardized Values.
Batch Wizard & Auto-Standardize
The Batch Standardize Addresses wizard processes any multi-selected contacts from the list or form view and reports processed / valid / needs-review / invalid / error counts; an optional Auto-standardize on save setting runs the check automatically whenever a contact is created or its address fields change.
Standardization Log
Every run writes a US Address Standardization Log entry with provider used, deliverability, address before/after and validation notes, timestamped and attributed to the user who ran it, giving a full per-contact audit trail.
