Customer Tax Approval Exemption is an Odoo 18 module that enables businesses to manage customer-specific tax exemption through a structured approval process. The module allows users to configure tax exemption at the customer level, upload supporting documents, and request approval. Authorized users can review and approve tax exemption requests. Once approved, taxes are automatically excluded from sales orders created for the approved customer. This ensures compliance, proper documentation, and controlled tax exemption handling while integrating seamlessly with Odoo’s Sales and Accounting workflows.

Tax exemption is configured per customer.
Approval access is role-based.
Customer Configuration
Navigate to Sales → Orders → Customers and open the required customer record.
Tax Exemption Configuration
Inside the Invoicing / Accounting tab of the customer:
Enable Tax Exemption.
Upload required tax exemption documents.
Submit the request for Tax Exemption Approval.
Sale Order Before Tax Exemption Approval
Create a sales order for the same customer before approval. Taxes are applied normally as per standard tax configuration.
Grant Access for Tax Exemption Approval
Provide approval access to authorized users by navigating to: Settings → Users and enabling Approve Customer Tax Exemption permission.
Tax Exemption Approval & Tracking
The authorized user reviews and approves the tax exemption request. All approval actions and status changes are tracked in the Chatter box on the customer record.
Sale Order After Tax Exemption Approval
Create a sales order for the same customer after approval. Taxes are automatically exempted since the customer is approved as tax-exempt.
