Integrate Facebook (Meta) Pixel to track PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, and Purchase events across your Odoo website.

Description

Integrate Facebook Pixel into your Odoo Website to track visitor behavior and conversion events.
Tracked Events:
- PageView: Triggers on all website pages with page name.
- ViewContent: Fires on product pages, tracks product name and ID.
- AddToCart: Triggers when a product is added to the cart, with product ID.
- Purchase: Fires on successful checkout, capturing:
- Order total
- Currency
- All order lines (product ID and quantity)

Configuration
Adding a tracking ID
Go to the menu "Website" - "Configuration" - "Settings" and activate the "Facebook | Meta Pixel" option. Then enter Tracking ID.
Apply the changes.
Add pixel Id on website settings
Testing
Test with Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome Extension)

To verify that Facebook Pixel events are firing correctly on your Odoo website, use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension.

Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/meta-pixel-helper/fdgfkebogiimcoedlicjlajpkdmockpc

After installation, visit your Odoo website. The extension will show which events (e.g., PageView, ViewContent, Purchase) have been triggered.

Important Testing Notes

By default, the Facebook Pixel does not track internal users who are logged in to Odoo. To test Pixel events effectively, follow these tips:

  • Make sure you're logged out of the Odoo backend during testing.
  • Alternatively, use a private/incognito browser window or a different browser to simulate a public visitor.
  • Pixel events will not trigger for users with internal access rights (e.g., admin or employee).
Alternative Testing Method

If the Meta Pixel Helper is unavailable or not functioning, you can test events using browser developer tools:

  • Open DevTools (F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I).
  • Go to the Network tab and filter by collect or tr.
  • Perform actions on your website (visit a product, add to cart, complete checkout).
  • Look for requests to https://www.facebook.com/tr/ to confirm event firing.

This approach helps verify that your Pixel integration is functioning as expected.
