Account Loan Analytic & Partner
Add partner tracking and analytic distribution to Odoo loans. Every journal entry generated from a loan automatically inherits the partner and analytic accounts - ensuring complete cost allocation and financial traceability for loan transactions.

1. Create Loan with Partner & Analytic Distribution
Create a new loan in Accounting -> Loans. Assign a lender partner and analytic distribution to the loan.
2. Confirm Loan
Click "Confirm" - the system automatically generates all loan journal entries (disbursement, interest, fees, etc.).
3. Journal Entry with Inherited Partner & Analytic
Generated journal entries automatically inherit the loan's partner and analytic distribution on all accounting lines.
4. Loan Partner Display on Journal Entry
Generated journal entries show a "Loan Partner" field for quick reference back to the originating loan.
Installation & Configuration
- Install the Module: Install through Odoo Apps or manually copy to addons path
- Dependencies: Requires
account_loans(Odoo Enterprise loan management module) - Enable Analytic Accounting: Go to Accounting -> Configuration -> Settings and enable Analytic Accounting
- Restart Server & Update: Restart Odoo and update the app list
- Create or Edit Loan: Go to Accounting -> Loans -> Create New Loan
- Assign Partner & Analytic: Fill in the Partner and Analytic Distribution fields before confirming
Step 1: Enable Analytic Accounting
Before using analytic distribution on loans, ensure Analytic Accounting is enabled in your Odoo instance. Navigate to Accounting -> Configuration -> Settings and activate the Analytic Accounting feature group.
Step 2: Create a New Loan
Navigate to Accounting -> Loans and click "Create" to create a new loan record. Fill in the standard loan information:
- Loan Type: Loan received or loan given
- Amount: Principal amount
- Interest Rate: Annual interest percentage
- Term: Loan duration in months
- Journal: Accounting journal for loan entries
Step 3: Assign Partner (Lender/Borrower)
In the loan form, select a Partner. This represents:
- For "Loan Received" - the lender providing the funds
- For "Loan Given" - the borrower receiving the funds
The partner will automatically appear on every journal entry generated from this loan.
Step 4: Assign Analytic Distribution (Optional)
If you use analytic accounting, assign an Analytic Distribution to the loan. This allows you to track loan costs (interest, fees) to specific:
- Cost centers
- Departments
- Projects
- Analytic accounts
The analytic distribution will automatically propagate to all generated journal entry lines.
Step 5: Confirm the Loan
Once all fields are filled, click "Confirm". The system will:
- Generate all scheduled journal entries (disbursement, interest payments, fees, etc.)
- Automatically copy the partner to every generated journal entry and move line
- Automatically copy the analytic distribution to every generated move line
Step 6: Review Generated Journal Entries
After confirmation, go to Accounting -> Journal Entries and search for entries related to your loan. You will see:
- The Partner field populated with the loan's lender/borrower
- The Loan Partner field showing the originating loan's partner
- Analytic distribution on all accounting lines
Pro Tip - Post-Confirmation Read-Only Protection
Once a loan is confirmed, the Partner and Analytic Distribution fields become read-only. This prevents accidental modifications that would create inconsistencies with already-generated journal entries. If you need to change these values, you must cancel the loan first.
