Advanced Date Range Filter
A configurable, reusable date range filter for any List or Kanban view in Odoo. 13 built-in ranges, a custom date picker, and per-model setup - all with zero code changes.
Every time a user wants to filter record by date, they must open the search panel, locate the date field, and manually pick dates - then repeat the whole process the next time they open that view. There is no persistent, one-click date range control in Odoo's standard interface.
- Repetitive manual filtering - users re-enter the same date ranges every session
- No standardised ranges - "Last 30 days" means different things when entered by hand
- Inconsistent results - easy to pick slightly wrong dates across different views
- No per-model control - no way to expose only the ranges relevant to a specific screen
- Poor user experience - too many clicks for one of the most common daily operations
This module adds a Date Range Filter button directly into the control panel toolbar of any List or Kanban view you choose. An administrator configures which models get the filter and which date field to use - no development work required. Users then get a clean dropdown with 13 ready-made date ranges, an active filter chip showing what is applied, and a single-click clear button - all without ever opening the search panel.
- 13 Ready-Made Date Ranges: Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Last 7 / 30 / 90 Days, This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, This Year, Year to Date, All Time, and Custom
- Custom Date Range Picker: From / To date inputs for any arbitrary period the user needs
- Per-Model Configuration: Choose which date field to filter on for each model - from a simple settings screen
- Visible Range Control: Show only the ranges that matter for each model - hide the ones that don't apply
- Active Filter Chip: The selected range label is displayed in the toolbar with a one-click clear button
- Works on List & Kanban Views: The button appears in the standard control panel - no view modifications required
- Stacks with Other Filters: The date filter works alongside all existing search filters and groupings
- Instant Feedback: The view refreshes the moment a range is selected - no extra confirm step
- Enable / Disable per Model: Toggle any model's filter on or off at any time without losing its configuration
- No Extra Dependencies: Works out of the box - no additional apps or packages required
Step 1 - Install the Module
Install Advanced Date Range Filter from the Odoo Apps store or from your custom addons path. No additional configuration is needed at this stage - the module is ready to use immediately after installation.
Step 2 - Configure Which Models Get the Filter
Go to Technical → Date Filter for Modules → Date Filters (System Administrator access required). Click New and select:
- Model - the screen you want to add the filter to (e.g. Invoices, Sales Orders, Tasks)
- Date Field - the date column to filter on (e.g. Invoice Date, Order Date, Deadline)
- Visible Ranges - tick the ranges you want shown in the dropdown; leave all unticked to show all 13
Date Filters list - each row is one model with its configured date field and active status.
Configuration form - select the model, the date field, and tick only the ranges you want visible.
Save the record. Users will see the filter button after their next page refresh.
Step 3 - Select a Date Range in the View
Open any configured List or Kanban view. A Date button now appears in the control panel toolbar. Click it to open the range dropdown and pick a period - the list or kanban refreshes instantly. An active chip appears in the toolbar showing which range is applied. Click × on the chip to clear it in one click, or click Change to switch to a different range.
The Date button opens a dropdown with all configured ranges for this model.
Once a range is selected, an active chip appears in the toolbar with a clear button.
Step 4 - Use a Custom Date Range When Needed
Select Custom... from the dropdown to open a small date picker. Choose a From date and a To date, then click Apply. The filter chip updates to show the exact period you selected. If either date is missing or the start is after the end, a clear warning message guides the user to correct the input.
The Custom range popover - pick a From and To date then click Apply to filter the view.
13 Ready-Made Date Ranges
Each range calculates its window automatically based on today's date - no manual date entry required.
