Frequently Asked Questions
Does it replace Odoo Discuss?
No. Discuss handles internal Odoo messaging and chatter. MailDesk connects your external IMAP mailbox (Gmail, company email, etc.) inside Odoo.
Does Basic sync read/unread back to Gmail?
Not in the Basic edition. Messages are imported one-way into Odoo. Read, move and delete actions apply inside Odoo only. Two-way sync is planned for a future Pro release.
Do I need an Axoline cloud account?
No. There is no external SaaS layer and no activation key. All email data is stored in your Odoo database. You connect directly to your mail provider via IMAP/SMTP.
Can multiple users connect their own mailboxes?
Yes. Each Odoo user can connect their own accounts. Record rules ensure users only see their own mailboxes. Shared team inboxes are planned for a future release.
Does it work with Gmail?
Yes, via IMAP/SMTP with an app password. OAuth sign-in for Gmail is not included in Basic but is planned for Pro.
Is Odoo Community Edition supported?
Yes. MailDesk Basic has no Enterprise-only dependencies. Our online demo may run on Enterprise for hosting convenience only.
Does MailDesk work with Microsoft 365 / Outlook?
Yes, via IMAP/SMTP with your Microsoft 365 credentials or app password. OAuth sign-in is planned for a future Pro release.
Can I create a CRM lead from an email?
Yes. Click Create on any message to open a pre-filled CRM lead, opportunity, sales order, helpdesk ticket, contact, task or calendar event (requires the respective Odoo app).
Is this an Outlook or Gmail replacement inside Odoo?
MailDesk is a full IMAP/SMTP webmail client embedded in Odoo. It complements — not replaces — Odoo Discuss for internal messaging.
Does it require Odoo Enterprise or Studio?
No. MailDesk runs on Odoo Community Edition (CE) and Enterprise with no Studio dependency. Our online demo may use Enterprise for hosting only.
