Basic Contacts YouControl Integration Extension
Automatically fetch and update Ukrainian company information using the official EDRPOU code. This module is essential for sales, procurement, and accounting teams who need accurate and up-to-date contact details.
Automated Data Enrichment
Eliminate manual data entry. Just provide an EDRPOU code, and the module instantly fetches the company's full name, address, tax ID (IPN), contact details, and legal status.
API Usage Monitoring
Stay in control of your YouControl subscription. A dedicated "Rate Limits" button provides a real-time summary of your total API requests, remaining balance, and usage per endpoint.
Built-in Data Validation
Prevent data duplication and errors. The module automatically checks if a contact with the same EDRPOU code already exists and provides clear warnings for missing or invalid API keys.
1. Installation
Step 1: Go to Apps, find the "Basic Contacts YouControl Integration Extension" module, and click Install.
For the integration to work correctly, you must install Contacts module. You can install all pack automatically(by installing Basic Contacts YouControl Integration Extension, but check if it is installed).
2. Configuration
Step 2: YouControl API Configuration
Go to Settings â YouControl API Key and enter your YouControl API key in the provided field.
How It Works
1. Adding a New Contact
When creating or editing a contact, you'll find new fields organized across these tabs:
Main Contact Form:
Full name (below the Name field);
EDRPOU (8-digit code, next to VAT field);
Full address (in the address section);
Mobile.
YouControl Tab:
Full name in English;
Short name in English;
Termination status;
Rate limits (HTML);
Main economic activity;
Economic activities (HTML);
Founders (HTML);
Founding capital.
Technical Data Tab (for administrators):
API response (JSON);
VAT response (JSON).
2. Retrieving Company Data
Enter the 8-digit EDRPOU code and click the "Update information from YouControl" button to fetch the latest company data.
See the "Technical Data" tab for more information about
request data.
After a request error, a user with system administrator rights can view error data in
the technical data tab after refreshing the page.
3. Retrieving Test Company Details
If you have not yet entered the API key, when you click the "Update information from YouControl" button, you will see an error message. After closing the error window, you need to refresh the page, and you will see that the corresponding fields, except for the Technical data tab, will be filled with test data.
4. Viewing Company Details
The retrieved information will be automatically populated in the contact form, including company name, address, economic activities, and more.
5. Checking API Usage
Use the "Rate Limits" button to monitor your YouControl API usage and remaining requests.
New Fields on Contact Form
After installation, new fields like "Full name", "Full address", "Mobile", "EDRPOU", and "YouControl" with "Technical Data" tab appear on the contact form, ready for integration.
Fetching Data with EDRPOU
Create or edit a contact, enter the 8-digit EDRPOU code, and click the "Update information from YouControl" button.
Occasionally, after clicking the "Update" button, you
might see a pop-up with the message "YouControl is updating data. Please try again later".
This is not an error. It indicates that
the YouControl server has accepted your request and is processing it. Please wait a 5-10 seconds for
the data to be fetched and populated and click the "Update information from YouControl" button again.
Also for this reason on the Technical Data tab you can see data like "reason":"Accepted",
"status_code":202
Viewing Auto-Filled Information
The module connects to the API and automatically populates the contact's name, address, IPN, status, and contact details.
Additional corporate data is available under the "YouControl" tab. Here you can find information about the legal entity's status, founding capital, list of founders, and detailed economic activities (KVED).
Checking API Rate Limits
Navigate to the "YouControl" tab and click the "Rate Limits" button to see a detailed breakdown of your API usage, updated with a timestamp.
Verifying on YouControl Website
Click the "Visit YouControl Site" button to open the company's official profile on the YouControl website in a new browser tab for further verification.
Error: Duplicate EDRPOU
If you try to use an EDRPOU that is already assigned to another contact, the system will display an "Invalid Operation" popup to prevent duplicates.
Error: Invalid EDRPOU
If you enter an EDRPOU code that is incorrect or does not exist in the YouControl database, the system will be unable to fetch any data. An "Invalid Operation" pop-up will appear, indicating that the request failed. Please double-check that the 8-digit code is entered correctly and belongs to a registered Ukrainian company.
Error: API Key
An "Invalid Operation" pop-up will also appear if the YouControl API Key is incorrect. This can happen for several reasons: the key was entered with a typo, it has expired, or it lacks the necessary permissions. Please verify your API key in Settings â Technical â System Parameters and ensure it is active and correct.
Error: Missing API Key
If the API key is not configured in the system parameters, the module will show an error message prompting you to set it up.
After refreshing the page you will see that the corresponding fields, will be filled with test data.
If you click the Rate Limits button at this time, you will see an error message. After refreshing the page, the Rate Limits field will be populated with test data.
Error with reason
If module received an error with reason, the module will show a reason in error message. If it received additional error message, it will be added to error message.
Error: No Internet Connection
If you try to use the module without internet connection, you will see an error about this. Please verify your internet connection.
Important Notes
- A valid YouControl API key is required for the module to function properly
- The module is specifically designed for Ukrainian companies with EDRPOU codes
- API requests are subject to YouControl's rate limits - 200 API requests per minute and 50 requests every 5 seconds
- Ensure your internet connection is stable when making API requests
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I enter an incorrect or non-existent EDRPOU code?
The system will attempt to query the YouControl API. Since no company will be found for that code, the API will return an error, and Odoo will display a warning message, typically indicating that the request failed or data could not be retrieved (e.g., Response [401] or a specific message from the server).
Does checking the "Rate Limits" use one of my paid API requests?
No. The request to check API limits is free and does not count against your total transaction balance.
What specific data fields are fetched from the YouControl API?
The module is designed to fetch the following key fields: Full Name, Short Name, Full Address, Legal Status (dissolution status), VAT code (IPN), Phone, Mobile Phone, Email, and Website. Also, it fetches some additional data from YouControl API: Full name in English, Short name in English, Termination status, Main economic activity, Economic activities, Founders, Founding capital.
