Zoho People Connector Overview

A) Employees Sync

Bi-directional synchronization of employee records:

  • Zoho Employees ↔ Odoo Employees: Full employee record sync
  • Personal Details: Name, email, phone, address synchronization
  • Work Information: Work email, work phone, office location
  • Department Link: Automatic department assignment
  • Job Position: Job title/position synchronization
  • Manager Hierarchy: Reporting manager relationships preserved

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the attendance module required?
A: No, attendance sync is optional and only activated if hr_attendance is installed and enabled in settings. The core employee/department/job sync works independently.
Q: How are employee managers mapped?
A: Manager relationships are preserved by employee binding. If the manager isn't synced yet, the employee job is retried with backoff until the manager record exists.
Q: Can I create Odoo users from Zoho employees?
A: There's an optional setting to create Odoo users from employee work emails, but this is disabled by default for security. Enable it only if you want automatic user provisioning.
Q: What OAuth scopes are required?
A: The connector requires Zpeople.employees.ALL, Zpeople.departments.READ, and Zpeople.jobroles.READ at minimum. Additional scopes are needed for attendance and leave sync.
Q: Is HR data kept secure?
A: Yes, the connector respects Odoo's HR access controls. Only users with appropriate HR permissions can view synced employee data. Multi-company isolation is enforced.
